Lenovo has introduced the Legion Y7MG, a new lightweight gaming mouse built around a magnesium-alloy frame, marking a departure from the perforated honeycomb designs that have become common in the ultra-light category. The device, now available in China, weighs 59 grams and supports polling rates of up to 8,000 Hz.
Build and Dimensions
The top shell and primary button cover are crafted from an aluminum-magnesium alloy, while the bottom shell uses ABS plastic. The mouse measures 119.2 × 62.1 × 38.2 mm, a profile suited to claw or fingertip grips. Lenovo’s choice of a solid magnesium top structure is intended to deliver the rigidity and weight savings of honeycomb shells without their exposed internal cavities.
Sensor and Performance
At its core, the Legion Y7MG carries the PAW3950 optical sensor, offering a DPI range from 50 to 42,000. The sensor supports tracking speeds of up to 750 inches per second, acceleration up to 50 G, and an adjustable lift-off distance to match different mouse pad surfaces. In both wired USB-C and 2.4 GHz wireless modes, the polling rate reaches 8,000 Hz; Lenovo advises pairing the mouse with a recent high-performance PC to achieve stable operation at that ceiling.
Switches, Encoder, and Glide
Durability is anchored by Kailh optical switches rated for 100 million clicks, paired with a TTC dustproof gold encoder and an aluminum-alloy scroll wheel. Large PTFE feet are fitted to the underside for smoother glide across fabric and hard pads, and Lenovo includes an extra set of PTFE skates, grip tape, and a protective film in the box.
Connectivity and Battery
The mouse connects via USB-C wired, 2.4 GHz wireless, or Bluetooth. Wireless power comes from a 500 mAh battery. RGB lighting is integrated and can be synchronized with other compatible Legion devices through Lenovo’s Aurora software.
Pricing and Availability
The Legion Y7MG is currently listed on Lenovo’s China online store at CNY 499, equivalent to approximately $73. An international launch has not been confirmed. The price positions it within the growing segment of sub-70-gram wireless gaming mice that prioritize magnesium shells and 8,000 Hz polling rates, a category that has expanded rapidly over the past year.
