Lenovo is officially expanding its lineup of compact gaming tablets. At the Shenzhen Nuclear Fusion Gaming Carnival, the company confirmed that a new, smaller member of the Legion Y700 family is in development and scheduled for a China launch in August 2026.
A Smaller Footprint with 5G Connectivity
The device, presented as an alternate variant of the existing Y700, will include 5G support as a headline feature. An initial promotional image provides a first look at its front design, revealing a punch-hole selfie camera. While the bezels appear comparable to those on the standard Lenovo Legion Tab Gen 5, the overall chassis is set to be more compact than that model’s 8.8-inch form factor.
Expected Display and Processor Shifts
Although Lenovo has not yet shared full specifications, industry expectations point to the new tablet sporting an OLED display. This would mark a notable upgrade from the IPS panel found in the recently launched Legion Y700 (sold internationally as the Legion Tab Gen 5), potentially sharpening its competitive edge against upcoming rivals like the RedMagic Astra 2.
The choice of processor remains unconfirmed. The standard larger variant runs on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 platform, but there is speculation that the smaller edition could be powered by a Dimensity chipset instead. More details on the hardware are expected to surface in the coming months.
