Oppo X8 Pad Gaming Tablet Leak: Release Coming Soon

Following the introduction of gaming tablets like the Lenovo Legion Y700, also known as the Lenovo Legion Tab, and the RedMagic Nova, it seems that Oppo is keen to join the competition. A recent report indicates that the Chinese technology company is preparing to launch its first gaming tablet.

    New Details Emerge

The information has been shared by the well-known leaker, Digital Chat Station. They had previously disclosed important specifications of an unnamed compact tablet that will be equipped with MediaTek’s Dimensity 9400 flagship chipset. However, the original Weibo post did not specify the name of the device.

In a follow-up comment on Weibo, the leaker confirmed the identity of the tablet. A user had suggested that the device was the X8 Mini, but Digital Chat Station clarified that this was incorrect. The tablet is actually part of the X8 series and will be named the Oppo X8 Pad.

    Anticipation Builds

While no announcement date for the Oppo X8 Pad has been shared yet, it is unlikely to be unveiled before the Find X8 Ultra, which is expected to be announced in the upcoming spring season.

According to leaked specifications, the Oppo X8 Pad is set to feature an 8.8-inch high-resolution display with a fast refresh rate. This LCD screen will not have a punch hole and will instead have rounded corners. Since it’s a tablet, the absence of a punch hole is understandable, as the front camera will be placed within the bezel.

    What to Expect

The Oppo X8 Pad will run on the Dimensity 9400 chipset, but there are still no details regarding the RAM and storage options. However, it is anticipated that there will be several configurations available. The tablet is also said to have a sleek metallic design and will operate on ColorOS 15, based on Android 15, along with support for fast charging.

While the launch date remains uncertain, it’s expected that the Oppo X8 Pad will first be available in China. It is still unclear whether it will be released more widely under the Oppo name or possibly rebranded under the OnePlus banner.

  • First Dimensity 9400 Tablet Launching with Hidden Selfie Camera

First Dimensity 9400 Tablet Launching with Hidden Selfie Camera

The MediaTek Dimensity 9400 has shown impressive performance in new smartphones like the Oppo Find X8 Pro. Now, it is set to make its mark in the tablet arena, as per reliable leaker Digital Chat Station.

    Design Features

The upcoming tablet is expected to feature a sleek metallic unibody, similar to the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9, which is currently priced at $689.98 on Amazon. This new device is likely to adopt a compact design that is very much in vogue right now.

Its smaller yet high-refresh-rate display is said to have "rounded corners." This design choice might serve to enhance the overall look of the device, while also minimizing the visual distraction of any bezels present.

    Camera and Display

Moreover, there are rumors that the tablet will incorporate under-display camera technology, reminiscent of the stylish "hidden camera" seen in devices like the RedMagic 10 Pro or Nubia Z70 Ultra. However, it’s worth noting that the screen is believed to be LCD, unlike the OLED displays found in those smartphones.

The exact identity of this next-generation tablet remains unclear at the moment. Given the rumored display size of 8.8 inches, it could potentially be a new version of Lenovo’s Legion Y700 or the 144Hz RedMagic Nova, among other possibilities.

Lenovo Legion Y700 Gaming Tablet Set for Global Launch Soon

Lenovo has recently launched the eagerly awaited 2024 update for its popular Legion Y700 gaming tablet. Following closely behind the global debut of its predecessor, which was released under a different name, the new version appears to be on track to follow a similar path.

    Upcoming Global Release

The tablet has shown up in the IMDA database, keeping the same ‘TBF321U’ model number from its initial release in China. This suggests that we might see a global unveiling soon, likely with a rebranding similar to what we saw last year.

    Impressive Specs

Featuring an 8.8-inch QHD IPS display with a 165 Hz refresh rate, the Lenovo Legion Y700 gaming tablet stands out in the performance tablet market. It runs on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, which is quite powerful, although it might soon feel dated since its successor, the 8 Gen 4, is expected to arrive soon and is rumored to offer significant performance improvements.

    Price Expectations

In China, the Lenovo Legion Y700 is priced at CNY 3,999, roughly translating to just below $580. Should the gaming tablet make its way to international markets, we can expect its price to rise, as has been the case in the past.

  • Lenovo Legion G7 Launches: New Gaming Controller for Mobile Devices

Lenovo Legion G7 Launches: New Gaming Controller for Mobile Devices

Lenovo has officially launched the highly anticipated 2024 Legion Y700 tablet. In addition to this new device, the company has also unveiled the Legion G7, a gaming controller designed to accommodate both smartphones and tablets. Notably, the G7 appears to be a rebranding of the GameSir G8 Galileo, based on its design and features.

    Features of the Legion G7

Similar to the GameSir G8, the Legion G7 includes a built-in USB-C plug. Lenovo claims this direct connection guarantees zero latency, which is essential for competitive gaming. The plug is adjustable, facilitating easier alignment of the smartphone or tablet during gameplay.

One of the standout features of the Legion G7 is the incorporation of Hall effect joysticks. These joysticks offer a longer lifespan and enhanced accuracy compared to traditional mechanical versions, and they are less susceptible to stick drift. Additionally, the joystick caps can be interchanged, with the mobile gaming controller providing three different sets.

    Customization and Design

The faceplate of the controller is also interchangeable, attaching magnetically for easy replacement when it shows signs of wear. The gamepad includes ABXY buttons, which can be swapped using the included software, allowing for broader game compatibility.

Lenovo emphasizes that the design of the Legion G7 aims to provide a handheld gaming experience comparable to dedicated gaming devices. It features Hall effect analog triggers that enhance the experience when playing PC and console games through streaming platforms. The controller also includes two back buttons that can be customized.

    Pricing and Availability

Both the tablet and the gaming controller come equipped with a built-in USB-C port for passthrough charging, alongside a 3.5 mm audio jack. The Legion G7 is set to be available for pre-order in China at a price of CNY 499, which equates to approximately $71. There’s currently no information on international availability, although the GameSir G8 Galileo is already being sold globally for around $79.99 on Amazon.

Lenovo shared these updates on Weibo (translated from Chinese).

  • Lenovo Launches New Color Option for 2024 Legion Y700 Tablet

Lenovo Launches New Color Option for 2024 Legion Y700 Tablet

Lenovo is set to unveil the 2024 Legion Y700 on September 29 in China. This upcoming Android gaming tablet will compete with the RedMagic Nova, and Lenovo has confirmed nearly all the device’s specifications. Just hours ahead of the official launch, the company has announced a second color option.

    New Color Variants

Initially, Lenovo showcased the tablet in a matte black finish. The 2023 Legion Y700 was offered in a single color, but the new model will provide more choices. According to the latest teasers, the successor will also come in a white option.

The first color is referred to as "Carbon Crystal Black," while the second is called "Ice White." These teasers have revealed little else. Earlier, Lenovo disclosed that the gaming tablet will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor. Although it may not be the top variant found in RedMagic’s latest tablet, Lenovo has equipped it with a substantial vapor chamber (VC) cooler.

    Performance Insights

A recent post on Weibo has assured users that the 2024 Legion Y700 will maintain stable performance across various gaming scenarios. The device’s temperature management appears to be impressive even under demanding conditions.

Additionally, the new tablet will feature an 8.8-inch display boasting a refresh rate of 165 Hz and a resolution of 2560×1600 pixels, along with global DC dimming capabilities. These specifications position the 2024 Legion Y700 as a worthy successor to its 2023 predecessor. If Lenovo keeps the pricing competitive, especially in the international market, it could pose a strong challenge to the RedMagic Nova.
