Earlier today, Nubia’s gaming-focused RedMagic division officially introduced the Gaming Tablet 5 Pro in China, leaving international availability uncertain at the time. That uncertainty has now been resolved, as the brand confirms the same hardware will launch globally on July 17 under the name RedMagic Astra 2.
A global launch with promotional campaigns attached
Alongside the announcement, RedMagic is running a promotional giveaway that gives participants a chance to win a RedMagic Astra 2 along with several lower-tier prizes. The accompanying “Escape the Maze Challenge” runs until July 23, while the overall sign-up giveaway remains open through July 28. Based on the brand’s typical rollout pattern, these dates align with Early Bird and general pre-order windows, which means the tablet may not be immediately available to purchase on launch day itself.
Battery and charging specifications
RedMagic has confirmed that the Astra 2 will reach international markets carrying the same 8,300 mAh battery found in its Chinese sibling. However, the global variant supports 75 W wired charging, a slight step down from the 80 W capability offered on the Gaming Tablet 5 Pro.
Display, cooling, and performance core
Built around a 9.06-inch OLED panel, the Astra 2 delivers a 2.4K resolution, a 185 Hz refresh rate, and a peak brightness of up to 1,600 nits. The tablet also features integrated liquid cooling to sustain performance under load. Under the hood, it runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, placing it in the same performance tier as current flagship smartphones such as the Galaxy S26 Ultra and the OnePlus 15, and ahead of the iPad mini 7 in raw processing power. That positions the Astra 2 as a compact gaming slate that competes directly with high-end handsets while offering a larger, high-refresh-rate OLED display and tablet-class cooling.
