Lenovo appears to be preparing a fresh expansion of its tablet portfolio, and newly surfaced renders may offer an early glimpse of what’s to come. Following the recent Tab Plus Gen 2 and Legion Y900, attention has now shifted toward the Idea Tab series — a lineup that, based on leaked imagery, seems aimed squarely at the accessible, everyday segment of the market.
Two Models, One Core Design Philosophy
The renders, said to total more than 100 individual images, reportedly depict a device codenamed Malibu. Sources indicate that Lenovo is readying at least two configurations under the Idea Tab banner: a standard Idea Tab Malibu and a more visually distinct Idea Tab Malibu Plus or Pro. Both appear to share the same general silhouette, yet differ in their rear camera treatment and available finishes.
At this stage, technical specifications remain thin, though the displays are described as either LCD or mid-tier OLED panels. The tablet is expected to fall within the 10- to 11-inch class, and its overall construction suggests a practical rather than flagship-grade ambition.
Camera Layouts and Color Choices
The standard Idea Tab Malibu is shown in Graphite Gray and Seafoam Blue. It features a single rear camera housed within an elongated strip that runs the full width of the back panel, while the front-facing sensor sits centrally on the landscape bezel. Bezels are noticeably thick and uniform on all sides, reinforcing the impression of a functional, budget-conscious device.
The Plus or Pro model introduces a more restrained rear camera strip and adds a Citrus Yellow option for a livelier palette. Beyond that visual distinction and the expanded color range, the two variants appear closely related. Viewed from the edge, both tablets maintain a relatively slim profile despite the prominent bezels on their face.
What Remains Unclear
For now, Lenovo has not disclosed pricing, availability, or a formal launch window for the Idea Tab Malibu family. If the renders prove accurate, the company could be positioning these models to compete in the mid-range and entry-level tablet market, filling a gap between premium productivity slates and basic media devices. While the leaked images supply a clear picture of the external design, a full set of internal hardware details is still awaited.
