Lenovo is offering an early look at its next Legion-branded gaming tablet, releasing a teaser video ahead of a formal announcement planned for August. The new model, called the Legion Y700 Ultimate, is confirmed to include both a physical SIM slot and eSIM support, marking a first for the series. The short clip emphasizes the tablet’s compact form factor, noting it is “super portable,” with a design that closely matches the dimensions of the previous generation. Full specifications have not yet been disclosed.

Connectivity upgrade positions the device above its predecessor

The Legion Y700 Ultimate follows the Legion Y700 (Gen 5), which launched in March without cellular connectivity. That device runs on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor and features an 8.8-inch LCD display with a resolution of 1904x3040. It is currently available through Lenovo’s US store for $699.99. Lenovo has not confirmed whether the Ultimate edition will use the same chipset, nor has it provided details on battery capacity, RAM, or storage configurations.

Leaked details point to an OLED panel and a higher price

Industry leaker Digital Chat Station has described the tablet as Lenovo’s fourth Legion-branded release this year and the first in the lineup to combine an OLED screen with 5G connectivity, a notable shift from the LCD panel used in the Legion Y700 (Gen 5). The same source compared the upcoming device to the RedMagic Gaming Tablet 5 Pro, which offers an 185Hz OLED display without 5G and is expected to reach international markets under the name RedMagic Astra 2. The inclusion of both an OLED panel and a 5G modem is expected to drive the Legion Y700 Ultimate’s price above that of the standard Gen 5 model, though Lenovo has not yet issued official pricing guidance.
