Amazon has quietly expanded its Fire HD 10 (13th generation) lineup with a new memory configuration, even as the tablet approaches three years on the market without word of an official successor.

A Subtle Hardware Bump

When the Fire HD 10 first launched, customers could choose between two variants: one with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage, and another with 3 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage. The company has now introduced a third option, pairing 32 GB of storage with an increased 4 GB of RAM. As with the existing models, the new variant retains a microSD card slot that supports cards up to 1 TB for expandable storage.

Pricing and Availability

The new 4 GB RAM edition is currently listed for sale at $154.99 and comes only in black with lockscreen advertisements included. Buyers who prefer an ad-free experience can pay a one-time $15 fee after purchase to remove the lockscreen ads. There is no dedicated ad-free SKU for this specific model at launch.

What the Extra Memory Brings

Moving to 4 GB of RAM should deliver tangible benefits in daily use. The additional memory will allow the tablet to keep more applications suspended in the background, leading to smoother multitasking and fewer app reloads. Users can also expect a modest performance uplift in casual gaming, as the system gains more headroom to manage both the game and background processes simultaneously.

Core Specifications Remain Unchanged

Beyond the memory adjustment, the Fire HD 10’s hardware stays consistent with the established 13th-generation design. It still features a 10.1-inch display with a resolution of 1920 x 1200 and a 60Hz refresh rate. The processor is a MediaTek MT7176A octa-core chip running at 2.0 GHz. A 5-megapixel camera sits on both the front and back of the device, while battery life is rated at up to 13 hours. The tablet charges over USB-C and supports 15W wired charging. Additional specifications include Bluetooth 5.3, dual-band Wi-Fi, stereo speakers, a standard 3.5 mm audio jack, and a built-in microphone.
