Bigme Brings Monochrome Edition of B6 E‑Reader to Chinese Market
Bigme has quietly introduced a black-and-white variant of its compact B6 e-reader on JD.com, roughly one year after the color version initially launched. The new model shares virtually all of its core hardware with the B6 Color but swaps the color E Ink panel for a high-resolution monochrome display.
Unchanged Core Specifications and Design
Apart from the screen technology, the specifications remain identical to those of the earlier color edition. The device is built around a 6-inch E Ink display with a density of 300 PPI, and the panel sits flush with the surrounding frame rather than in a recessed channel. A matte, anti-glare finish and an adjustable front light with both warm and cool tones are carried over. Under the hood, a MediaTek octa-core processor is paired with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage, which can be expanded by up to 1 TB via the built-in microSD card slot. Users also get a 2,100 mAh battery that charges over USB-C, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a speaker, a microphone, and Android 14 out of the box.
Pricing and Availability
On the manufacturer’s global storefront, the Bigme B6 Black & White edition carries a $179 list price before sales tax. The Chinese listing, however, brings a more affordable initial price of CNY 899, which converts to roughly $133 or €116. According to local reporting, some regional discounts can push the effective price as low as CNY 854.05, equivalent to about $126 or €110. The e-reader is currently offered in a single white chassis color, while optional magnetic leather cases can be purchased in several colors.
A Quiet, Lower-Cost Color Variant Emerges
The market for Bigme’s B6 line has seen additional movement. A more affordable version of the B6 Color appears to have surfaced on Amazon without a formal announcement from the company. This variant scales back the memory configuration to 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage, and it is now listed at $165.97. That positions it below the standard 4 GB model, which is priced at $179 before tax and $194 including tax on Bigme’s own international website. Notably, this 2 GB configuration is absent from both the company’s Chinese and international web stores at the time of writing, and no official release notice has been issued.
