Lenovo has updated its Lecoo Fighter 7000P gaming laptop in China, swapping out the previous Intel silicon for an AMD Dragon Range Refresh processor. The 16-inch machine is now listed with the high-end Ryzen 9 8940HX, giving it a substantial lift in multi-threaded workloads while still leaning on Nvidia's latest discrete graphics.
New processor and platform shift
The new Ryzen edition is built around the 16-core, 32-thread Ryzen 9 8940HX, which operates at a base clock of 2.4 GHz and can boost up to 5.3 GHz. The chip carries a 55W base TDP configurable to 75W, placing it firmly in enthusiast territory. In multithreaded benchmarks, the processor scores roughly 17 percent higher than the Intel Core 7 245HX that previously powered this model, though it trails the same Intel part by about 21 percent in single-threaded performance. Compared with the earlier Ryzen 9 7940HX variant, the slight bump in peak boost clock (5.3 GHz versus 5.2 GHz) delivers a modest but welcome step forward for gaming and content creation.
Graphics, memory, and storage configuration
Lenovo pairs the processor with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 featuring 8 GB of VRAM and a 115W total graphics power limit. The laptop includes 16 GB of DDR5-4800 RAM and a 512 GB PCIe 4.0 solid-state drive, with a second M.2 slot available for straightforward storage expansion after purchase. The combination is designed to handle modern game engines and parallel creative tasks without immediately requiring hardware upgrades.
Display, thermal design, and connectivity
The front-facing 16-inch panel runs at a native 2560 x 1600 resolution with a 180 Hz refresh rate, capable of reaching 500 nits brightness and covering 100 percent of the sRGB color gamut. Power is supplied by an 80 Wh battery, and the machine includes a single-color backlit keyboard. Cooling is managed by a thermal system using four heat pipes and three fans. Wired and wireless connectivity spans one USB-C port, three USB-A ports, an HDMI output, Gigabit Ethernet, and a 3.5 mm combination audio jack.
The Lecoo Fighter 7000P Ryzen Edition is now visible on JD.com in China, where it is set to go on sale on August 4 priced at 9,799 yuan (approximately $1,448). The configuration positions it as a competitive alternative to other mid-year Dragon Range and Raptor Lake refresh laptops appearing in the same price band across the Chinese market.
