Honor has confirmed that its long-anticipated Robot Phone will be formally unveiled on August 12, 2026, in China. The announcement follows an initial reservation window that opened earlier this month and marks the next step for a device that has already drawn significant public attention through appearances at CES 2026, MWC 2026, and the Cannes Film Festival. The phone also gained visibility when Spanish footballer Eric García was photographed holding it during celebrations after the 2026 FIFA World Cup final.
A robotic gimbal and AI-powered imaging
The defining hardware feature is a three-axis gimbal camera mounted on a small robotic arm. Honor states that the imaging system was co-developed with cinema camera manufacturer Arri, signaling a strong emphasis on video and still-image quality. The gimbal works in tandem with AI Object Tracking, which lets users double-tap a subject on screen to keep it locked in the frame automatically as the arm physically adjusts position.
Expected specifications and performance
Earlier leaks point to a flagship internal platform, with the device possibly running on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5—the same high-end chipset found in the Xiaomi 17 Ultra. The phone is tipped to house a display between 6.3 and 6.4 inches with “1.5K” resolution. On the imaging side, the reports suggest a 200 MP gimbal-mounted main camera, a 50 MP ultrawide, and a 200 MP periscope telephoto lens, creating a versatile triple-camera array.
