GMKtec has introduced the G5S, a compact mini PC now available in China that prioritizes space efficiency without sacrificing everyday connectivity. The device occupies a footprint of just 72x72x44.5 mm, a palm-sized chassis that allows it to slip into tightly arranged desks, behind monitors, or into digital signage installations with minimal visual clutter.
Port selection and internal hardware
The small case packs a practical array of ports for peripheral and display needs. Buyers get three USB 3.2 Type-A ports, one USB Type-C port, a 3.5 mm audio jack, a Gigabit Ethernet connector, and a single HDMI 2.0 output. On the inside, the G5S runs on an Intel Celeron N5095 processor from the Jasper Lake platform, a low-power quad-core chip engineered for light office tasks, media playback, and edge computing. The system comes equipped with 8 GB of soldered LPDDR4 RAM, which cannot be upgraded after purchase.
Storage configuration and cooling
Storage flexibility is addressed through an M.2 slot that can accommodate a 2242 SSD, with GMKtec offering the G5S in two factory configurations. One option provides 128 GB of internal storage, while a larger 256 GB variant is also available. For thermal management, the manufacturer employs a copper heat pipe paired with a silent fan, a cooling solution designed to sustain processor performance at up to 10 W during sustained workloads.
Pricing and expected global launch
The introductory pricing in China places the 128 GB model at CNY 1,149 (approximately $169) and the 256 GB version at CNY 1,849 (roughly $272). GMKtec has indicated that the G5S will be brought to international markets in the near future, which would extend the reach of this ultra-compact desktop beyond its initial domestic release.
