The team behind the Clicks Communicator has released its first in-depth hands-on look at the device since pre-orders opened earlier this spring. Priced at $499, the keyboard-centric smartphone remains on track for shipment in the fourth quarter, and the new footage provides the clearest view yet of its distinctive software and hardware features.
A closer look at the interface and audio hardware
The video walks through the device’s custom Android skin, which organizes favorite apps and widgets into a clean list view. A full alphabetical app drawer sits just below the favorites section, reinforcing the straightforward, productivity-focused layout. On the hardware side, Clicks has fitted the Communicator with three microphones, high-quality stereo speakers, and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. The company emphasizes that communication extends beyond messaging, noting that call quality is engineered to remain strong even when using the speakerphone.
Keyboard shortcuts and a modular design
Several keyboard functions receive only a brief introduction in this first look. The spacebar doubles as a fingerprint sensor, while the touch-sensitive keys can enable a trackpad-like mode and a dedicated shortcut button—capabilities promised for future demonstrations. The video does highlight the phone’s tool-free rear cover, which pops off to reveal slots for a SIM card, a microSD card, and a user-replaceable battery.
What’s confirmed and what remains unknown
In addition to its compact form factor and physical keyboard, the Clicks Communicator will support magnetic Qi2 charging and feature a 50 MP main camera alongside a 24 MP selfie camera. The manufacturer has yet to disclose which processor powers the device, leaving one of its core specifications unanswered as the launch window approaches.
