Citizen has expanded its Star Wars-themed Eco-Drive collection with a new model that draws heavily on the imagery of the Galactic Empire. Listed at $525 in the United States and CA$695 in Canada, the freshly unveiled Imperial Battle edition (reference AW1857-57W) brings the Death Star and swarms of TIE Fighters onto an embossed red and black metal dial.

A Dial Built Around Imperial Iconography

The design places a formation of TIE Fighter silhouettes across the red dial, over a textured Death Star backdrop. The Galactic Empire crest sits prominently at the 12 o’clock position and is repeated as an engraving on the caseback. A hexagonal gray ion-plated 42 mm stainless steel case echoes the angular paneling of TIE Fighter wings, tying the case architecture directly to the spacecraft that dominate the dial.

Light-Powered Movement and Everyday Durability

Powering the watch is Citizen’s in-house J810 Eco-Drive caliber, which converts light into energy and removes the need for battery changes. The movement drives three hands and a date window, sits beneath a sapphire crystal, and carries a WR100 water-resistance rating. That level makes it suitable for swimming and marine sports, though it is not intended for deep-water diving. The stainless steel bracelet fastens with a fold-over clasp fitted with a push-button release.

A Growing Franchise Without LImited Status

Citizen has cultivated its Star Wars line over several years, producing models inspired by figures such as Darth Vader, the Mandalorian, Han Solo, and Luke Skywalker. Some previous releases, like the Darth Vader BM7257-57W, were capped at 1,977 units worldwide, though Citizen has not indicated whether the new Imperial Battle variant will carry similar scarcity. The AW1857-57W is currently available directly from Citizen’s official website.
