Casio is preparing to broaden its ABL-100 series with two fresh color options, according to recent reports. The upcoming ABL-100WE-2A will feature a navy dial, while the ABL-100WE-7A arrives with a grey dial, and both are expected to reach stores in July. Aside from the new face colors, the watches remain technically identical to the models already on the market.
A milestone in the vintage lineup
The ABL-100 made its debut in Japan in August 2024, marking a notable first for Casio’s Vintage collection. In more than 40 years of the product family’s history, it was the inaugural model to incorporate Bluetooth connectivity and a step tracker. Preserving the classic square metal digital silhouette while embedding modern smart functions was a delicate balance, and the design was widely seen as a successful evolution.
Familiar hardware and core specs
Physically, the watch measures 41.6 x 37.9 x 8.2 mm and pairs a chrome-plated resin case with a stainless-steel multi-row bracelet. The feature set carries over unchanged: Bluetooth enables automatic time correction and settings adjustments through the Casio Watches app, while a step counter displays progress directly on the LCD via a dedicated bar. Additional tools include dual time, a stopwatch capable of storing up to 200 lap records, a countdown timer, five daily alarms, an LED backlight, and 30 meters of water resistance. Power is supplied by a CR2016 battery, rated for roughly two years of operation.
Step tracking kept deliberately simple
The activity tracking is intentionally pared back. There are no dedicated workout modes, heart rate sensors, or GPS functionality. Instead, the system functions primarily as a pedometer with app synchronization, aimed at users who want daily step awareness without migrating to a full-featured smartwatch.
Pricing for the new navy and grey editions has not yet been confirmed. For reference, the original silver and gold ABL-100 variants were introduced in the United States at $79.95 and $99.95, respectively, and the new colorways are expected to fall within a similar range.
