Casio has quietly introduced its W738H series to the United States market, marking the first time this trio of practical digital watches has been officially available in North America. Priced at $54.95 each, the three variants—the W738H-1AV in black with silver accents, the W738H-1BV in full black with an inverted LCD, and the W738H-3AV in olive green—are now listed on the company’s domestic website. The line initially debuted in Japan in May before arriving on the UK site, and the US launch now completes its expansion into major Western markets.
A silent alert system in a slimmer profile
The defining capability of the W738H series is its integrated vibration alarm, a feature rarely found outside Casio’s robust G-Shock family. By moving this silent alert mechanism into a more compact and lightweight design, the company has created a narrow but appealing niche. The vibration function replaces audible beeps across all core alerts, including the daily alarm, countdown timer, stopwatch, and hourly time signal, while simultaneously muting button operation sounds. Activation is deliberately simple: pressing and holding the dedicated start button for two seconds in timekeeping mode toggles the entire watch into vibration-only mode.
This design choice brings the convenience of discreet notifications to a lower price point, avoiding the larger case dimensions and higher cost typically associated with vibration-equipped G-Shock models. The non-G-Shock resin case measures 47.0 × 42.8 × 13.4 mm and weighs just 43 grams, making it a more everyday-friendly option for users who need silent alerts without the bulk.
Practical construction and full feature set
Water resistance is rated at 100 meters, and Casio estimates approximately ten years of battery life from a single CR2032 cell. Attention has also been paid to how the watch wears: the band features a shorter hole pitch than is typical, helping the case sit snugly against the wrist so that vibration pulses are reliably felt. The vibration control button itself is shaped and accented distinctly, allowing it to be located by touch alone.
Beyond the signature vibration function, the module covers a complete standard feature set. It offers dual time, a 1/100-second stopwatch, a 24-hour countdown timer, a daily alarm, an hourly time signal, and an LED backlight with afterglow. An auto-calendar runs through the year 2099. All three colorways are available directly through Casio’s online store.
