Bose appears poised to refresh its standard QuietComfort headphones for the first time since their introduction in 2023. According to details published by a French deals platform, the company is preparing to launch a QuietComfort (2nd Gen) model, despite what the outlet describes as an absence of prior leaks hinting at the product’s existence.

The report claims the headphones will become available on August 13, 2026, with preorders potentially opening roughly one week earlier, around August 7. Pricing is listed at €349.95, £299.95, and $359, matching the launch price of the current-generation model even with a list of newly added capabilities.

Updated Design and Controls

The leaked specifications point to several physical refinements. The ear cushions are said to adopt a pill-shaped profile, while the headband is reportedly wider and includes more synthetic leather padding. In a functional shift, controls are described as being relocated directly onto the earcups. On the audio front, the new generation is expected to include Bose’s TrueSpatial spatial audio processing, support for lossless playback over USB-C, and two additional listening modes: an “Immersion” mode and a dialogue-focused “Cinema Mode.” Battery life would remain unchanged, offering up to 24 hours with active noise cancellation enabled or 18 hours when using TrueSpatial.

Feature Alignment with the Ultra Line

Several of these capabilities echo features already introduced in Bose’s premium QuietComfort Ultra line. The second-generation QuietComfort Ultra headphones, released in September 2025, received lossless USB-C audio, a Cinema Mode, and a broadly similar redesign. If the leaked details prove accurate, the standard QuietComfort (2nd Gen) would deliver much of that same feature set approximately one year later, while undercutting the Ultras’ original launch price by nearly $90.

As with any pre-release information, the claims remain unverified, and Bose has not issued a public comment on the reported specifications or timeline.
