Both Xiaomi and Honor are currently developing their inaugural flip-style foldable phones. Honor has announced the Magic V Flip, set to launch on June 20th, while details about Xiaomi’s flip phone remain undisclosed.
Upcoming Book-Style Foldables
In addition to their flip-style models, both companies are also working on new book-style foldable phones: the Mix Fold 4 from Xiaomi and likely the Magic V3 from Honor. According to a leak by tipster Smart Pikachu, these foldable phones will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. The Mix Fold 4 is rumored to feature a 5000mAh battery and a quad-camera setup, including a telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom.
Camera Specifications and Features
The leaked camera specifications corroborate a previous report, which indicated that the main sensor will be a 50-megapixel shooter with a 1/1.55” sensing area and optical image stabilization. It will be paired with an Omnivision OV60A featuring a 1/2.8” sensor for the 2x telephoto camera and a 12MP ultrawide unit. The telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom will utilize a 10MP sensor.
The same report suggests that the Mix Fold 4 could boast an exceptionally slim design, potentially making it the thinnest foldable phone available upon its release. Additionally, it is expected to be the first Xiaomi foldable with water protection, a feature absent in the company’s previous foldable models.
Battery and Launch Details
Regarding the Magic V3, the tipster revealed that Honor’s foldable will have an even larger battery, although the exact capacity is still unknown. As for the release timeline, both Xiaomi and Honor are anticipated to launch their foldable phones in July, according to Smart Pikachu.
