  • First Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide Screen Protectors Leak Reveals New Aspect Ratio

First Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide Screen Protectors Leak Reveals New Aspect Ratio

    Key Takeaway

    – Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide uses a notably wider cover display (5.4 inches) with a near-square 4:3 inner screen, signaling a more tablet-like productivity mode when open.
    – The design emphasizes a traditional smartphone-like experience on the cover while expanding the inner display for larger tasks.
    – Rumored camera trade-off: potential removal of a telephoto lens in favor of a dual-camera setup to achieve the slimmer/compact form factor.

New leaked images hint at Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide design

New leaked images shared by one of the top smartphone tipsters provide a glimpse into the anticipated design of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide. The photos showcase a tempered glass screen protector for the first time, emphasizing a significantly wider aspect ratio compared to previous Samsung foldables. The visuals seem to underline a bold shift in how the cover display behaves, which could influence daily usage in ways many users haven’t imagined yet. The imagery also hints at build choices that might affect durability and usability in real world scenarios, making this leak worthy of attention despite being unconfirmed by official channels.

Wide variant aims for a more traditional cover experience

This leak reinforces the growing consensus that the “Wide” variant is intended to offer a more traditional, smartphone-like experience on the cover display while transitioning to a near-square 4:3 inner screen for tablet-like productivity. Such a design could please users who favor a familiar single-screen feel when the device is closed, while still delivering expansive multitasking potential when unfolded. It suggests Samsung is balancing familiarity with productivity in its latest foldable strategy, though final specs remain speculative until official announcements are made.

    Overlaid guard image and comparisons

The leakster has overlaid the screen guard with an image for illustration purposes. We can see a direct comparison of the Fold 8 Wide’s protector to that of the Huawei Pura X Max, suggesting Samsung’s wide foldable will be narrower when closed and wider when opened. This visual juxtaposition implies a design philosophy that prioritizes a more compact closed state without compromising an expansive display when opened, a trade off that many potential buyers will weigh against other competing devices in the market.

Specifications teased: cover and inner displays

Previous reports have highlighted that the wider variant of the Z Fold 8 should feature a 5.4-inch cover display and a 7.6-inch inner panel. To achieve its sleek form factor, the phone is rumored to make compromises in the camera department, allegedly ditching the telephoto lens in favor of a dual-camera setup. If true, this could mark a notable shift from Samsung’s typical camera line, affecting zoom performance and overall photo versatility, though final camera specs will only be verified by official disclosures.

    2. The upcoming Find N6 boasts “imperceptible creases” and durability, confirmed by TÜV Rheinland testing for 600,000 folds.
    3. It features an 8.12-inch main OLED display with a self-healing glass cover and an advanced hinge design that reduces visible creases.
    4. Expected specs for the Find N6 include a 6,000 mAh battery with 80W wired and 50W wireless charging, Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, and a 200 MP main camera.
    5. The Find N6 is available for pre-order in three colors with various RAM and storage options, including a high-end 16 GB/1 TB model.

Oppo has claimed the title of the world’s thinnest foldable phone with the Find N5 in 2025, which features a Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and a 5,600 mAh battery, all packed into a sleek 4.2 mm body when opened. This remarkable design has left competing brands in a rush to catch up.

Sneak Peek at the Find N6

The Find N6 is on the verge of its launch, and a recent Bloomberg preview shows it alongside the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold, highlighting its many creases. The preview reveals that the usual “valley” seen in the hinge area of foldable phones is hardly noticeable on the N6, especially when compared to the visible creases on Samsung’s model.

Oppo has shared the TÜV Rheinland testing certification for the Find N6, which confirms that the device features “imperceptible creases” and will maintain a flat inner screen even after 600,000 folds. This promise of durability sets it apart from many competitors.

    Innovative Display Design

The 8.12-inch main OLED display is equipped with a self-healing memory glass cover that ensures it remains smooth even after extensive use. The standout feature is the hinge mechanism; Oppo utilizes 3D scans for every hinge during assembly of the Find N6. They apply small polymer drops in areas that are even slightly uneven, which are then fused using UV rays.

This advanced hinge design allows the display assembly to be aligned more evenly, significantly reducing the chance of a visible crease. Oppo claims that this innovation addresses two-thirds of the variation in hinge surface height, earning the TÜV Rheinland certification for “imperceptible creases.”

    Expected Specifications and Features

At the official launch event on March 17, additional specifications for the Find N6 are anticipated. It is expected to come with a massive 6,000 mAh silicon-carbon battery that supports 80W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. In comparison, the Galaxy Z Fold 7, currently discounted on Amazon, features a smaller 4,400 mAh battery and a slower 25W charging rate.

The Find N6 will also be globally equipped with the cutting-edge Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, constructed on a 3 nm process. Furthermore, it may include an impressive 200 MP main camera sensor from Hasselblad, complemented by two additional 50 MP cameras for zoom and ultrawide shots. Oppo is also marketing the Find N6 alongside an AI Pen stylus, branding it as an “Ultra Foldable” tool for productivity, rather than just a neat gadget.

    Pre-Order Details and Color Options

Oppo has made the Find N6 available for pre-order in three striking color options: Golden Orange, Deep Black, and Original Titanium. Variants will offer RAM and storage options from 12/256 GB up to a high-end 16 GB/1 TB model with satellite connectivity features. The Golden Orange, a standout color, looks as vibrant as its name suggests in teasers released on Oppo’s YouTube channel.

    3. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 features a 4-inch external screen with slim bezels and the potential to run multiple widgets.
    4. There is hope for running standard apps on the cover screen, similar to the Motorola Razr 60 Ultra, but this is not confirmed.
    5. The main display of the Galaxy Z Flip 7 shows no noticeable crease, indicating high quality and a modern design for foldable devices.

Videos that get published online can be difficult to take down, and finding copies of content that has been deleted can be challenging. For example, a new video showcasing a powered-on Galaxy Z Flip 7 was shared a few hours ago by @andrei_eclynoh on X but quickly vanished. At first, only a handful of screenshots were available on sites like Sammobile.

    Discovering the Video

Eventually, we managed to track down the video. As long as Samsung or Google doesn’t remove it, you can view it below. The leaker provides a complete look at the successor to the Galaxy Z Flip 6 (currently priced at $949 on Amazon) before powering it on. After that, both screens are displayed. The 4-inch external screen features very slim bezels and can show four widgets at once. • Honor Magic V5: Thinnest Foldable Phone Now in Ivory White

Honor Magic V5: Thinnest Foldable Phone Now in Ivory White

    Key Takeaways

    1. Slim Design Competition: The Honor Magic V5 has reclaimed the title of the world’s thinnest foldable phone, measuring 8.8mm when closed, slightly thinner than the Oppo Find N5 at 8.9mm.

    2. Engineering Innovations: Both Oppo and Honor have utilized advanced materials and hinge designs to achieve their slim profiles, with Honor using a steel hinge and Oppo opting for a titanium alloy.

    3. Display Features: The Honor Magic V5 has a 6.4-inch cover display and a 7.95-inch main screen, both with a 120Hz refresh rate and impressive brightness, although the specifics of the brightness measurement remain unclear.

    4. Powerful Specifications: The Magic V5 features Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, up to 16 GB RAM, and storage options up to 1 TB, with varying battery capacities for different markets.

    5. Camera Capabilities: The Magic V5 boasts a triple-camera setup with a 64MP periscope zoom camera, surpassing the 50MP sensor in the Oppo Find N5, although pixel size may impact performance.

Oppo has faced numerous challenges to create the incredibly slim Find N5 foldable phone that was launched earlier this year. The company mentioned that reducing thickness is approaching its limits unless some major engineering advances occur in the future.

    New Competitor in the Market

The recently unveiled Honor Magic V5, which has taken back the title of the world’s thinnest foldable phone from Oppo, seems to validate this assertion. When closed, it measures just a tiny bit less than the Oppo Find N5—8.8mm versus 8.9mm—and this is only true for its white color variant.

This illustrates the difficulty in making foldable phones thinner without sacrificing their durability. Nevertheless, with the white Magic V5, Honor is reclaiming the title for the slimmest foldable device.

    Engineering Marvels

Honor explained that they had to experiment with a steel hinge, a silicon carbon battery, and various engineering innovations to achieve the 8.8mm thickness when the Magic V5 is folded.

In comparison, Oppo also utilizes a thin silicon carbon battery in the 8.9mm Find N5, although its hinge is constructed from a potentially stronger titanium alloy.

The Ivory White Magic V5 measures 4.1mm when opened, while the Black, Dawn Gold, and Reddish Brown models have a thickness of 9mm when closed and 4.2mm when opened.

    Display and Performance

It appears that Honor has taken the primary and cover screens from last year’s Magic V3, which is currently on sale on Amazon, at least regarding their dimensions. The cover display has a diagonal of 6.4 inches, while the main screen is 7.95 inches, which is smaller than the display found on the Oppo Find N5.

Both the external and main screens on the Honor Magic V5 boast a 120Hz refresh rate, but Honor has enhanced their brightness to an impressive 5,000 nits. While this sounds remarkable, Honor does not clarify the area of the screen being measured, which is crucial for understanding the peak brightness of OLED displays; the actual typical brightness could be considerably lower.

    Powerful Specs

Honor has equipped its flagship 2025 foldable with Qualcomm’s premium Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, offering memory options of 12/16 GB RAM and storage up to 1 TB, at least in China, where the battery capacity is 6,100 mAh.

Conversely, the rest of the world will receive a variant of the Magic V5 with 512 GB of storage and a smaller 5,820 mAh battery for some unknown reason. The charging speed is rated at 66W for wired charging, which is less than the 80W of the N5, and the wireless charging capability is 50W, typical for a flagship device from a Chinese manufacturer.

    Camera Capabilities

In addition to its ultra-slim design, the Magic V5 is also impressive due to its triple-camera setup. The periscope zoom camera on the back features a 64MP sensor, which is an upgrade from the 50MP sensor found in the Find N5. However, this new sensor has smaller pixels, leaving questions about its performance compared to Oppo’s flagship foldable.

The starting price for the Magic V5 is around $1,255 or €1,070 and £923 for the 12/256GB variant, going up to $1,535 and €1,300 or £1,128 for the exclusive 1TB model available in China. It’s important to note that these prices may rise by as much as 30% when the device is released in global markets like Europe.

The interface is designed for real-time engagement across five application windows, making it perfect for both work and play.

    Powerful Battery and Slim Design

The Vivo X Fold 5 boasts an impressive 6,000mAh battery, which is the largest seen in a foldable phone to date, yet it’s lighter and thinner compared to its predecessor. Boxiao mentioned that the battery’s thickness is less than that of a Chinese one-yuan coin.
