Lu Weibing, who is the current president at Xiaomi, has revealed when their next flagship camera will launch. The company representative mentioned that the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is set to officially debut soon after the Chinese Spring Festival, which begins on January 29. Therefore, it is believed that the launch could take place in February.
A Look Back at Previous Launches
If we look back, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra was also unveiled in February, and it became available for purchase shortly after the initial announcement in China. The global launch took place at MWC 2024, which happened not long after the first reveal. It appears that a similar pattern will occur with the new camera flagship.
Global Availability
Lu Weibing has confirmed that the Xiaomi 15 Ultra will be launched “simultaneously around the world.” This indicates that there won’t be any delays between the Chinese and international releases, which is unusual for flagship phones from China. For example, the standard model of the new series has yet to have an international release.
Speculations About the Xiaomi 15
Previous reports have hinted that the Xiaomi 15 might also launch globally alongside its Ultra counterpart. However, it seems unlikely that the Pro version will be available outside of China. Recent leaks have suggested a redesigned camera layout on the back of the 15 Ultra.
The device is said to maintain a four-camera system at the rear like its predecessor, but the arrangement of the sensors will be different. Some reports claim that this camera setup will consist of a 50MP primary lens, a 50MP ultrawide, a 50MP periscope, and a 200MP periscope telephoto lens. Additionally, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is anticipated to come with a 6,000mAh SiC battery, supporting 90W wired and 50W wireless charging (250W Anker Prime power bank curr. $149.99 on Amazon).
