Vivo has introduced its latest smartphone, the Y300, aimed at the Chinese market. This model is quite different from the Y300 5G that was launched in India last month, and it resembles more closely the Y300 Pro which came out three months ago.
Specifications of the Y300
The Y300 features a sizable 6.77-inch AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 120Hz and can reach a peak brightness of 1800 nits. It uses Diamond Shield glass to protect the screen and incorporates 3840Hz high-frequency PWM dimming (this increases when developer mode is on, with a standard of 2160Hz) to help lessen eye fatigue.
Powering the Y300 is the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 SoC, which is a dependable processor for daily usage. The phone's most remarkable aspect is its unique rear speaker system, developed in partnership with AAC Technologies.
Innovative Audio Features
The Y300 comes with a triple-speaker arrangement, which includes an AAC 1326D rear speaker, AAC 1116B lower speakers, and Goertek 0809 upper speakers. Vivo claims this setup can produce a peak power of 4.5W and is an impressive 600% louder than typical smartphone speakers. Moreover, it offers 3D panoramic audio for an engaging listening experience.
Though the camera specs aren't the main highlight, the Y300 is fitted with a 50MP main rear camera along with a 2MP depth sensor. For selfies and video calls, it has an 8MP front camera.
Design and Durability
The Y300 is available in three colors: Green Pine, Snow White, and Star Diamond Black. Despite housing a substantial 6500mAh battery with a high energy density of 776Wh/L, the phone stays slim at only 7.79mm thick. It also has an IP64 rating for dust and water resistance, plus it boasts SGS five-star certification for drop and fall safety.
Pricing and Availability
You can purchase the Vivo Y300 for CNY 1,399 ($192/€182) for the 8/128 GB model. The price rises to CNY 1,599 ($220/€210) for the 8/256 GB variant, CNY 1,799 ($245/€235) for the 12/256 GB version, and it reaches CNY 1,999 ($275/€260) for the 12/512 GB model.
