Samsung and MediaTek Team Up for Upcoming Flagship Smartphones

Samsung has been incorporating MediaTek chipsets into its affordable and mid-tier smartphones for a considerable time, such as in the previous year’s Galaxy A15 (curr. $152 on Amazon). However, this trend shifted with the introduction of the Galaxy Tab S tablets this year, which replaced Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 with MediaTek’s Dimensity 9300+.

    Performance Comparison

At first glance, there seems to be little difference in performance between the two chipsets. Nevertheless, using MediaTek chipsets for the Galaxy Tab S10 Plus and Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra might have assisted Samsung in lowering its production expenses. It’s worth noting that neither MediaTek nor Qualcomm publicly disclose their pricing to OEMs for these chipsets.

    Cost Implications

There have been claims that the Dimensity 9400 is approximately 18% less expensive per unit compared to the Snapdragon 8 Elite, even though both chips are reportedly more than 20% pricier than their previous versions. This leads to speculation that the cost of the Snapdragon 8 Elite influenced Samsung’s choice not to integrate its newer M14 AMOLED display in the Galaxy S25 Ultra.

Rumors suggest that Samsung’s efforts to cut costs will persist if Qualcomm raises prices on its next flagship mobile chipset in comparison to the Snapdragon 8 Elite. According to new information, this could also extend to camera components in the upcoming models. On the other hand, there are indications that Samsung is contemplating the use of MediaTek Dimensity chipsets for the Galaxy S26 series, which might lessen the need for further cost reductions.

Oppo Reno 13 and 13 Pro Real-Life Images Reveal iPhone Design

Oppo has begun taking pre-orders for its Reno 13 series in China. This collection features the Reno 13 and Reno 13 Pro, which are scheduled to be officially launched on November 25, together with the Oppo Pad 3.

    Phone Designs Remain a Mystery

While Oppo has started to tease the launch, the actual designs of the phones have not been revealed yet. Only a few comparisons between the Reno 13 series and Apple’s iPhones have appeared, giving glimpses into the design. Recently, an X user shared real-life photos of both the Reno 13 and Reno 13 Pro smartphones.

    Camera and Display Features

Both devices showcase similar camera islands made of cold-craved glass, drawing clear inspiration from the design elements found in iPhones. Furthermore, both models feature chamfered edges. Weibo posts have also disclosed the front design of the phones, highlighting their slim bezels.

Specifications of the Reno 13 Series

The standard Reno 13 is anticipated to sport a 6.59-inch 1.5K display with a refresh rate of 120Hz. It will probably be powered by a MediaTek Dimensity chipset, although the specific model remains uncertain. The front will include a 50-megapixel selfie camera, while the back is expected to have a triple-lens configuration, led by a 50-megapixel primary sensor. A large 5,600mAh battery is also expected to power the device.

Information about the Pro variant is less defined, but it is rumored to have a similar flat design with a metal frame. It is expected to feature a larger 6.83-inch micro-quad-curved panel, maintaining the same 1.5K resolution and 120Hz refresh rate.

    Power and Camera Specifications

Rumors suggest that the Reno 13 Pro will be equipped with a more powerful MediaTek Dimensity 8350 SoC under the hood. The battery capacity is likely to be a bit bigger at 5,900mAh, and it will also support both wired and wireless charging. The camera system for the Pro variant is said to include a 50-megapixel main sensor with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto lens for zoomed photography, and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide sensor.

Both the Reno 13 and Reno 13 Pro are expected to operate on ColorOS 15 and will offer enhanced durability with dust and water resistance features.

Infinix GT 20 Pro: BIS Certification and India Launch Update

Infinix’s GT 20 Pro smartphone appears poised for an imminent launch in India, with its model number X6871 recently surfacing on the BIS certification site. While specific details about the device’s hardware and software remain undisclosed in the listing, the sighting strongly suggests that the Infinix GT 20 Pro is gearing up for an Indian debut.

    Certification Trails

The same model number, X6871, has been identified on various other certification platforms including SDPPI, EEC, Wi-Fi Alliance, and TUV. Notably, the TUV certification discloses that the phone will house a 4900mAh battery, potentially marketed as 5000mAh.

    Performance Insights

Recent findings on Geekbench unveil that the Infinix GT 20 Pro will be equipped with the MediaTek Dimensity 8200 chipset, marking a performance upgrade over its predecessor, the GT 10 Pro, which featured a Dimensity 8050 SoC. Geekbench also hints at a generous 12GB RAM configuration, with expectations of an 8GB RAM variant alongside a rumored 256GB storage model.

    Software and Expectations
