Samsung has begun delivering pre-orders for the Galaxy S25 series in India, with official sales starting on February 7th. As we look ahead, it’s time to discuss the new foldable devices. The latest buzz revolves around the crease on the display of the Galaxy Z Fold 7.
Galaxy Z Fold 7’s New Hinge Design
According to leaker PandaFlash X, the crease on the Z Fold 7 is “almost gone.” It seems that the crease can only be seen when light hits it from specific angles, indicating that it should be hardly noticeable when viewing the screen directly. Samsung has made strides in this area over the years; however, the crease is still apparent and remains more visible compared to some rival products. The visibility of the crease is closely tied to the folding mechanism, and recent information suggests that Samsung is utilizing an enhanced hinge design for the new book-style foldable.
Special Edition Insights
Last year, the company released the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition, exclusive to South Korea, featuring a different hinge design that allows it to be slimmer than the Z Fold 6, measuring 10.6 mm compared to the previous 12.1 mm. The Z Fold 7 is anticipated to follow the same hinge design as the Special Edition, which means the crease may be similar or possibly even less visible than that of the Z Fold SE.
Camera and Cooling Upgrades
Rumors indicate that the upcoming foldable will feature a 200MP main camera. However, it is expected to be slimmer than the Z Fold 6, which has a smaller 50MP main sensor. Achieving this while maintaining the phone’s design aesthetic seems unlikely without incorporating the new ALOP lens technology. Nevertheless, Samsung introduced its ALOP lens tech last November, which could potentially debut in the next high-end foldable device.
A recent video teardown has shown that Samsung has enhanced the Galaxy S25 series with larger VC cooling systems. The same tipster has indicated that both the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 will likely receive similar upgrades.
