Smartphones featuring Qualcomm's latest high-end chip, set for late-2024, have just started appearing in markets worldwide. Yet, this hasn't stopped well-known leakers from speculating about the next version of the Snapdragon 8 Elite.
Performance Expectations
Models like the Realme GT 7 Pro, iQoo 13, and ROG Phone 9 are expected to achieve impressive benchmarking scores, hitting 3,000,000 or even higher in AnTuTu performance tests. However, their upcoming successors are rumored to surpass these scores by at least 20%, as reported by Digital Chat Station.
The New Chip Design
The "Gen 2" is believed to achieve these enhancements while remaining on a 3nm architecture from TSMC. Digital Chat Station claims that this new chip will utilize TSMC's N3P process instead of the current Snapdragon 8 Elite's N3E.
Qualcomm was initially considering Samsung's SF2 process for its second-generation Elite chip, previously referred to as the "Snapdragon 8 Gen 5." However, it's possible that this plan has been dropped during production, suggesting a full reliance on TSMC for the near future.
Competitors on the Horizon
In addition, Apple's upcoming A19 Pro chip could make an appearance in anticipated rivals to the Realme GT 8 Pro, which may include devices like the iPhone 17 Pro Max or the iPhone 17 Air, further heating up the competition in the smartphone market.
