Samsung is believed to be developing a more affordable foldable smartphone, named the Galaxy Flip FE. This device is anticipated to be cheaper than the Z Flip 6 while maintaining the same design. A recent leak indicates that it will also utilize the same display technology as the Flip 6.
Display Features
Earlier rumors suggested that this budget-friendly foldable might come with the same screen as the Z Flip 7. However, since the Flip FE is targeting a lower price point, it makes more sense to use the display from the current generation. This approach would help in reducing the production costs significantly.
The information was shared by display analyst Ross Young. If his insights are accurate, the Galaxy Z Flip FE will feature a 6.7-inch foldable LTPO AMOLED inner display with a 120 Hz refresh rate, as well as a 3.4-inch cover display operating at a 60 Hz refresh rate.
Specs and Performance
At this point, there hasn't been any new information regarding other specifications for the phone. However, another way Samsung is likely to cut costs is by changing the SoC. The Z Flip 6 is equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, but the FE model might come with the Exynos 2400. This configuration would match the performance levels seen in the Exynos-based Galaxy S24 series devices.
In terms of release date, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip FE is expected to be unveiled towards the end of the second quarter in 2025. The expected price is around $700 for the 256 GB variant, while the 2024 Razr+ currently retails for $799.99 on Amazon.
