Samsung Reveals New Wearables: Ring, XR Headset, Robot Aid for Walking

Samsung recently unveiled its latest range of innovative products at MWC 2024, held in Barcelona. The Korean tech giant showcased a shift towards wearable technologies with the introduction of the Galaxy Ring for health tracking, XR headset to rival Apple Vision Pro, and the Botfit robot designed to assist individuals with mobility challenges.

Samsung's Wearable Innovations

Samsung, known for its innovative technology, has expanded its product lineup to include cutting-edge wearable devices. Among these, the most notable is the Botfit robot, designed to aid individuals facing mobility issues.

Botfit Walking Assistant

The Botfit robot aims to enhance user mobility and support daily activities, particularly beneficial for those with conditions like neurological diseases or musculoskeletal disorders. Samsung's goal is to empower individuals in need to lead more independent lives.

The Botfit is set to enter mass production in the second or third quarter of this year, with a release expected by the end of the year or early 2025. Initially, fewer than 100,000 units are planned for production.

Galaxy Ring: Smart Health Tracking

Another exciting addition is the Galaxy Ring, a smart wearable designed to monitor sleep and health metrics. With up to 9 days of battery life on a single charge and IP68 water and dust resistance, the Galaxy Ring offers both durability and functionality.

Alongside health tracking features, the Galaxy Ring provides notifications for calls, messages, and other alerts through vibrations. Additional functions include music and presentation control, as well as interaction with voice assistants. The pricing for the Galaxy Ring is yet to be officially announced, but it is expected to launch in the fall.

Samsung Galaxy XR: Mixed Reality Headset

Responding to Apple's Vision Pro, Samsung introduced the XR headset at MWC 2024. Developed in collaboration with Samsung, Google, and Qualcomm, this mixed reality device boasts a micro OLED display and 8 cameras, along with a ToF sensor for enhanced user experience.

Similar to the Vision Pro, the XR headset can be controlled through eye movements, voice commands, or hand gestures. While the pricing details are currently undisclosed, it is anticipated to be revealed towards the end of the year, with a release slated for 2025.
