Samsung has introduced the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold, marking its debut in the tri-folding smartphone market. This device boasts a triple-camera setup, though it appears that Samsung had intended to incorporate a fourth lens. A post from a Samsung executive on LinkedIn reveals that a prototype was evaluated featuring a quad-rear camera arrangement before the design was finalized.

Prototype Insights

In the shared images, Omar Saheb, the VP of Marketing & E-commerce for Samsung Electronics MENA, is pictured with the smartphone, which clearly showcases four rear-facing cameras, unlike the typical three seen in the retail version. The additional cutout at the bottom of the camera array is consistent in size with the others but is noticeably slimmer.

Launch and Availability

As the device has just been unveiled, it’s probable that this is a prototype that Samsung created prior to the final decision on its first tri-folding model, rather than a sneak peek of a second-generation device. Although the company ultimately decided against the four-camera design, the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold available for purchase still features an impressive camera system, including a 200MP main rear sensor, a 12MP ultrawide camera, and a 10MP telephoto lens that supports 3x optical zoom.

If you happen to be in South Korea, you can get your hands on one starting December 12. For those located in the US, you’ll have to wait until early next year, likely within the first quarter of 2026. The smartphone will also become available in regions such as China, Taiwan, Singapore, and the UAE.
