The Redmi K80 series is anticipated to debut in China by November. Today, Smart Pikachu, a tipster on Weibo, disclosed that the entire Redmi K80 lineup is undergoing tests with a 2K display.
The Redmi K70 was equipped with a 2K (1440 x 3200) display, featuring 4000 nits peak brightness, HDR10+, Dolby Vision for vivid colors, and TUV Rheinland certification for eye protection. The tipster mentioned that the K80 series’ screen will have a slightly curved design, akin to the mid-range Redmi Note series.
Redmi K80 Series to Feature a Premium Champion Edition
Additionally, the K80 series will include a co-branded model similar to previous iterations. For instance, the Redmi K70 Pro Champion Edition was a collaboration between Redmi and Lamborghini. Thus, it’s likely that the co-branded model in the Redmi K80 lineup could also be a Champion Edition produced in partnership with Lamborghini.
To give you a sense of what to anticipate, last year’s Redmi K70 Pro Champion Edition was priced at approximately $1200 and featured a unique design compared to the standard Pro model.
Upcoming Chipsets and Battery Details
According to earlier rumors, the Redmi K80 series will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset. The K80 Pro will incorporate the forthcoming Snapdragon flagship, while the base model will utilize the currently available Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC. The device will sport a 5500 mAh battery and support 120W fast charging.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is slated for release at the Snapdragon Technology Summit 2024 in October. This new flagship chipset is built on TSMC’s second-generation 3nm process. Unlike the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, the 8 Gen 4 employs Qualcomm’s self-developed Nuvia Phoenix architecture, which offers superior performance compared to the ARM architecture. This will also mark the company’s first fully self-developed 5G SoC.
