In a recent post on Weibo, Chase Xu, who holds multiple titles at Realme including Vice President, has announced that a new GT series phone focused on performance is set to launch shortly in China. Prominent Chinese tech bloggers, such as WHY LAB, have suggested that this device will be named the Realme GT 7 Pro Racing Edition. This upcoming smartphone aims to target young gamers, prioritizing raw performance and an elevated gaming experience over other features.
Realme GT 7 Pro Racing Edition Unveiled
A Realme phone with the model number RMX5090 was recently seen on China’s TENAA certification platform. Initial reports hinted that it might be the Realme GT 7, but WHY LAB has clarified that it’s likely to be called the Realme GT 7 Pro Racing Edition. Xu has also indicated that the word “racing” will be part of the name, aligning with its high-speed and performance-oriented design. He stressed that this phone will provide enhanced performance with no compromises on cost or user experience.
Expected Specifications of the Realme GT 7 Pro Racing Edition
As per the rumors, the Realme GT 7 Pro Racing Edition will bear many similarities to the standard GT 7 Pro, though there will be some key differences. Notably, it will exclude the periscope telephoto lens present in the GT 7 Pro and go for a dual-camera system instead. The remaining specifications are expected to match those of the GT 7 Pro.
The device is anticipated to showcase a 6.78-inch 8T LTPO Samsung display featuring a micro-quad-curved design. It should have a resolution of 2780×1264 pixels with a 120Hz refresh rate. Inside, the phone will likely be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, equipped with up to 24 GB of LPDDR5x RAM and up to 1 TB of UFS 4.0 storage. Additionally, it is rumored to contain a substantial 6,500mAh battery with 120W fast charging capabilities.
Camera Features and Competition
On the camera front, the Racing Edition is expected to come with a 50-megapixel main camera featuring OIS and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens. For selfies, it should include a 16-megapixel front camera. To maintain a lower price point, it might use an optical-type in-screen fingerprint sensor instead of the ultrasonic one found in the standard GT 7 Pro.
With a strong emphasis on speed and gaming performance, the Realme GT 7 Pro Racing Edition is likely to compete with devices such as the iQOO Neo 10 Pro and OnePlus Ace 5 Pro in the Chinese market. There’s an expectation that the Racing Edition will be priced lower than the Ace 5 Pro, making it the most affordable Snapdragon 8 Elite phone, with an approximate pricing of around.
It’s also possible that the Racing Edition could launch alongside the Realme Neo 7 SE, which will be powered by the Dimensity 8400 Max and is also expected to debut this month.
