Courtesy of a well-known leaker on X/Twitter, we have learned that the OnePlus Watch 4 is getting closer to release, as it has received approval from EMVCo. The leaker, @sudhanshu1414, also shared a variety of details about the smartwatch’s specifications.
Processor Details
To start, it is said that the OnePlus Watch 4 will be powered by the Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 SoC. This chipset, which was introduced in 2023, includes four Cortex A53 cores that can reach up to a boost frequency of 1.7 GHz. Even though the W5 Gen 2 is available now, OnePlus seems to have chosen to stick with the older version for this smartwatch.
Display and Size
The smartwatch will feature a 1.5-inch LPTO AMOLED screen, boasting a resolution of 466 x 466, which looks to be the same as what the OnePlus Watch 3 offers (currently priced at $345 on Amazon). The size has increased slightly to 47 mm, suggesting a potential increase in bezel thickness if the display remains unchanged.
Battery and IP Rating
The 646-mAh battery will not be receiving any upgrades, either. It seems the main improvement will be the IP rating, which could be upgraded from IP68 to IP69. This upgrade would enable the watch to withstand high-pressure and high-temperature water streams.
In the EMVCo database, two different models of the OnePlus Watch 4 have been identified—one labeled XL907 and the other XL905. It might indicate that OnePlus is preparing a higher-end or a more budget-friendly option for the smartwatch, but we will have to wait for confirmation.
Software Confusion
Sudhanshu also mentioned that the smartwatch will run on WearOS 5.0, but the EMVCo listing clearly indicates WearOS 6.0. Most likely, the latter is correct since the Android 16-based WearOS 6 has been available for some time now.
