Chinese brands often avoid using the number “4” in their series due to its negative connotations in many Asian cultures. Recently, tipster Digital Chat Station shared initial details on Weibo about the upcoming OnePlus Ace 5 series, indicating that the company will skip the “Ace 4” designation for its sub-flagship phones. Here's what was revealed about the Ace 5 series.
OnePlus Ace 5, Ace 5 Pro Expected Soon
According to the leak, the standard and Pro versions of the OnePlus Ace 5 series are anticipated to be released sooner than expected in China. To provide some context, the Ace 3, which featured the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, was introduced early in 2023. It was followed by the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3-powered Ace 3V in March and the Ace 3 Pro with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in June.
The leak suggests that OnePlus might launch the Ace 5 and Ace 5 Pro by the end of this year. The series will follow a strategy similar to the Ace 3 series, incorporating a flagship chipset along with a large silicon battery. Moreover, the design is set to undergo a substantial upgrade.
No Information on OnePlus Ace 5V Yet
Currently, there is no information available about the OnePlus Ace 5V, which is expected to be the budget-friendly model in the Ace 5 lineup. To recall, a modified version of the Ace 3V was released as the OnePlus Nord 4 in markets such as India and Europe. Therefore, it is plausible that a tweaked version of the Ace 5V could be named the Nord 5 in other regions.
The OnePlus Ace 3 was rebranded as the OnePlus 12R for the global market. Therefore, it's possible the Ace 5 will be rebranded as the OnePlus 13R outside of China. The OnePlus 13, equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, is expected to debut in China around October or November. Meanwhile, the OnePlus 13 and 13R are likely to be available globally in January 2025.
