Official Confirmation: Honor X50 GT Moniker, Launch Imminent

Honor is reportedly working on the successor to its Honor X40 GT smartphone, with the upcoming device rumored to be called the Honor X50 GT. According to a recent Weibo post by Raul Wei Xiaolong, the Honor GT-series product manager, the Honor X50 GT will live up to expectations and build on the positive reputation of its predecessor, the Honor X50. Although an exact launch date has not been confirmed, it is speculated that the device may be unveiled in January 2024.

There is some uncertainty regarding whether the Honor X50 GT will be launched alongside the Magic 6 series of flagship phones, set to debut on January 10 and 11. However, a Chinese leaker has suggested that the Honor X50 GT could be a rebranded version of the Honor X50 Pro, which is expected to launch soon in China. It is believed that the X50 Pro and X50 GT will target offline and online markets respectively.

As for the rumored specifications of the Honor X50 Pro and X50 GT, the X50 Pro is said to feature a curved-edge OLED panel with a 1.5K resolution and a pixel density of 429 ppi. It is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset and will come with a 5,800mAh battery that supports 35W fast charging. The device will run on Android 14 and Magic OS 7.2, and is rumored to offer 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. The X50 Pro will be available in black and green color options, although pricing details have not been revealed.
