Motorola is preparing to introduce a new top-tier smartphone in the Chinese market soon. The upcoming device, known as the Motorola X50 Ultra, is anticipated to be a rebadged version of the recently launched Edge 50 Ultra in Europe. An official teaser has confirmed the release date of the X50 Ultra for the Chinese audience.
Motorola X50 Ultra China Launch
The Edge 50 series, which includes the Edge 50 Pro, Edge 50 Fusion, and Edge 50 Ultra, is on the verge of its global launch. While the Edge 50 Fusion is scheduled for release next week, the other two models have already made their debut in specific markets. The Chinese iteration, named the Motorola X50 Ultra, is also poised to make its entry on May 16.
Device Specifications and Features
The teaser hints at the device being available in a Beige color option. However, considering the Edge 50 Ultra is also offered in Black and Peach Fuzz variations, it is likely that these colors will be part of the Chinese release as well. As the X50 Ultra is essentially a rebranded Edge 50 Ultra, it is probable that the specifications will be akin between the two models. Expect the X50 Ultra to feature a 6.67-inch pOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 2500 nits.
Internally, the device is rumored to be powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC, coupled with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage. It is likely to run on the Android 14 OS out of the box. In terms of photography, the rear camera setup may consist of a 50-megapixel triple camera system, while the front camera could offer a 50-megapixel selfie shooter. To keep the device running, a 4,500mAh battery is expected, supported by 125W wired charging and 50W wireless charging capabilities.
