Motorola Edge 50 Certified: Key Specs Revealed, Launching Soon

Motorola’s Edge 50 series has captured attention with its Pro and Ultra models, but those on a budget might be thrilled about a potential standard Edge 50 coming soon.

This buzz stems from the phone’s appearances on certification platforms such as TDRA, FCC, and EEC (according to TheTechOutlook). The recurring model number XT2407-1 hints at a new member in the Edge lineup.

Battery and Charging

Although the complete specifications remain unknown, the FCC listing provides some intriguing insights. The battery model number indicates a capacity around 5,000 mAh. Additionally, the charger model suggests support for 68W fast charging.

Software and Connectivity

On the software front, the device is expected to come with Android 14, layered with Motorola’s Hello UI. It will likely feature NFC for contactless payments and WiFi 6 connectivity.

The phone’s design and official launch date are still under wraps. However, with the certifications accumulating, a July release seems plausible. For context, let’s look at the specs of its predecessor, the Motorola Edge 40.

Motorola Edge 40 Specifications

Released in May last year, the Motorola Edge 40 sports a 6.55-inch P-OLED curved-edge display with FHD+ resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. It includes an under-display fingerprint scanner and runs on Android 13 OS. The device features a 32-megapixel front-facing camera and a rear camera setup with a 50-megapixel primary sensor with OIS and a 13-megapixel ultra-wide lens that also functions as a macro shooter.

The Edge 40 is powered by the Dimensity 8020 chipset, coupled with 8 GB of LPDDR4x RAM and a 4,400mAh battery supporting 68W wired and 15W wireless charging. Additional features include 256 GB of internal storage, dual stereo speakers, Ready For support, and an IP68-rated chassis.

Future Expectations

We can anticipate that the Edge 50 will come with improved camera sensors and a more robust processor compared to the Dimensity 8020. The recently launched Motorola Edge 50 Fusion boasts a 50-megapixel Sony LYT-700C primary camera sensor and a Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 processor.
