A leak from the Chinese social media platform Weibo has disclosed the camera specifications for Xiaomi’s forthcoming flagship, the Xiaomi 15 Pro.

3x 50MP Cameras
The device will feature three 50MP cameras on the rear, similar to the Xiaomi 14 Pro. The primary sensor will be the OV50K, and the IMX882 will be used for the 3x telephoto lens.
The OV50K is rumored to be a 1″ sensor. In contrast, the Xiaomi 14 Pro had a slightly smaller 1/1.31″ sensor. Although detailed information about this sensor is limited, the manufacturer has introduced a smaller version called the OV50K40. This version utilizes lateral overflow integration capacitors (LOFIC) to deliver top-tier single-exposure high dynamic range (HDR) regardless of lighting conditions. It reportedly achieves human eye-level HDR with a single exposure in standard mode.
Square-shaped Camera Module
The leaker mentions that the telephoto sensor’s clarity in digital zooming is inferior to the OV64b, although its power consumption is notably efficient. The Xiaomi 14 Pro employs a Samsung ISOCELL JN1 sensor for its 3.2x telephoto lens. The transition to the telephoto in the Xiaomi 15 Pro is said to have improved compared to its predecessor. The aperture of the telephoto lens will also be a significant factor.
Earlier rumors suggested that the Xiaomi 15 Pro would feature a square-shaped camera module positioned in the upper left corner, with the flash located outside the camera island, possibly due to space constraints. The front of the phone will boast a 2K micro-curved screen.
Expected Release Date
The Xiaomi 15 Pro is anticipated to be launched around mid-October and will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset. While details about the upcoming Xiaomi 15 series are limited at this time, we will provide more updates as they become available.
