Rumors are swirling about a new phone from Infinix, following the release of the Infinix Hot 50 5G. If the rumors hold true, this forthcoming device might be the slimmest smartphone to hit the market in the last five years.
Currently, the title of the slimmest phone is held by the Tecno Camon 11 series, which was launched in 2018. Tecno is part of Transsion, the same parent company that owns Infinix. According to Passionategeekz, which cites insider information, Infinix is working on a phone that will be just 6mm thick. They also released live images comparing the thickness of the device to that of an iPhone.
Design and Features
The leaked photos show a smartphone with a curved display, possibly featuring 3D curved glass. The back panel curves gently toward the edges, seamlessly integrating with a central frame that connects the front and back, offering a sleek aesthetic.
Though only the back of the phone is visible in the images, it appears similar in design to the Infinix Hot 50 5G. The rear showcases a rectangular camera module housing three camera sensors and an LED flash.
Technology Behind the Slim Design
The phone’s ultra-slim profile might be due to the use of silicon carbon battery cells. These cells have a higher energy density than the graphite commonly found in lithium-ion batteries. Silicon can hold more lithium ions per volume, allowing for smaller batteries without sacrificing capacity.
The images also contrast the Infinix device with an iPhone Pro/Pro Max model, highlighting the noticeable difference in thickness. For comparison, the recently launched iPhone 16 is 7.80mm thick, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max measures 8.25mm.
What’s Next?
Aside from its eye-catching thinness, other specifications of the Infinix phone are still unknown. However, with live images now in circulation, an official announcement seems likely in the near future.
