After recently entering the worldwide market, Infinix has introduced its new Smart 9 HD budget-friendly smartphone in India. This model is the follow-up to the Smart 8 HD (currently priced at $71.10 on Amazon), which was revealed in December 2023. While the design closely resembles the earlier version, there are some notable improvements in the display and processor.
Display and Camera Features
The Smart 9 HD is equipped with a 6.67-inch LCD display, slightly larger than the 6.6-inch screen of the Smart 8 HD. It boasts a resolution of 1600 x 720 pixels, a refresh rate of 90 Hz, and can reach a maximum brightness of 500 nits. Unfortunately, the camera specs haven’t seen any upgrades; it still features a 13 MP main camera along with a secondary AI sensor. For selfies and video calls, it has an 8 MP front camera.
Performance and Storage
This new smartphone is powered by a MediaTek Helio G50 processor, combined with 3 GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 64 GB of eMMC 5.1 storage. Users can expand storage up to 1 TB using a microSD card. The device operates on Android 14 Go Edition with XOS 14 right out of the box, but there’s no indication of future software updates from Infinix, which suggests that users might not receive any upgrades.
Battery and Additional Features
The budget-friendly smartphone includes a decent 5,000 mAh battery that supports a low 10 W wired charging. Other features of the Smart 9 HD consist of a side-mounted fingerprint sensor integrated into the power button, stereo speakers with DTS technology, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, an IP-54 rating for dust and splash resistance, and the capability for up to 3 GB of virtual RAM expansion.
The Infinix Smart 9 HD is priced at INR 6,999 (~$77) and will launch on February 4 through Flipkart. It will be available in several colors, including Coral Gold, Mint Green, Neo Titanium, and Metallic Black. For more information, check out the official product page for the Smart 9 HD.
