The new HyRead Gaze Pro X brings a familiar design to the table, taking cues from the Boox Note Air4 C. It features a 10.3-inch E Ink screen housed in a slim body that has a wide bezel on one side, making it comfortable to hold with just one hand.
Display Limitations
However, when compared to the Boox tablet, the Gaze Pro X has a significant drawback: it uses an E Ink Carta 1300 panel that can only show 16 shades of gray, lacking color options. Despite this, the display boasts a resolution of 2,480 x 1,860 and a pixel density of 300 PPI, plus it has built-in front lighting with an adjustable color temperature. Additionally, the HyRead Gaze Pro X is equipped with an 8 MP camera on the back, which is a feature that many other competitors don’t offer. This can be quite useful for tasks like scanning documents.
Operating System and Features
Running on Android 14, this tablet is designed to work with a wide range of third-party applications. This includes not only e-book readers like Amazon Kindle but also apps for note-taking and drawing. This is particularly beneficial given the tablet’s support for the pressure-sensitive Wacom stylus and Bluetooth keyboards. The device is powered by a 4,800 mAh battery that charges through USB-C. It’s equipped with an unnamed eight-core processor, 6 GB of RAM, and 128 GB of internal storage, which can be expanded via a microSD card.
Pricing and Launch Details
The HyRead Gaze Pro X e-Note is set to be released in Taiwan in February, with a price tag of 18,600 NTD (about $569). As of now, HyRead has yet to provide any details on a potential international release.
