HMD Global has introduced its new budget-friendly smartphone, the HMD Fusion, in India. One of the standout features of this phone is its customizable modular design. Users can change out various functional cases, referred to by HMD as smart outfits. There are three available smart outfits: a casual one with a simple design, a vibrant one with a customizable RGB LED flash ring, and a gaming version that includes physical buttons. All these outfits connect to the phone using a six-pin interface.

In addition to its unique design, the HMD Fusion comes with solid features for a budget smartphone. It boasts a 6.56-inch HD+ display that supports a 90 Hz refresh rate and can reach a peak brightness of 600 nits. The brand incorporates its HID screen technology into the Fusion. When it comes to photography, it features a dual rear camera setup that includes a 108 MP main camera along with a 2 MP depth sensor. For selfies and video calls, there’s a 50 MP camera located on the front.
Performance and Updates
This 5G-ready smartphone runs on the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 processor, combined with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage, which can be expanded via a microSD card up to 1 TB. It operates on Android 14 right off the bat, with HMD promising two major OS updates (Android 15 and 16) and three years of security updates (two years monthly and one year quarterly).
