  • Samsung to Replace Galaxy S26 Plus with Galaxy S26 Edge

Samsung to Replace Galaxy S26 Plus with Galaxy S26 Edge

    Key Takeaways

    1. Samsung has officially launched the Galaxy S25 Edge, the slimmest model in the Galaxy S25 series.
    2. The Galaxy S26 series is expected to feature an Edge model that may replace the Galaxy S26 Plus due to poor sales of the Plus variant.
    3. The Galaxy S25 Edge has a smaller battery, slower charging, and lacks wireless charging and a telephoto camera compared to the Galaxy S25+.
    4. The success of the Galaxy S25 Edge will influence whether Samsung continues with the Plus model in future series.
    5. Samsung may launch four models in the Galaxy S26 series, similar to this year’s lineup, as they are developing four OLED panels.

Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy S25 Edge, marking it as the slimmest addition to the Galaxy S25 series. Although it was initially revealed with other Galaxy S25 models earlier this year, it has taken several months for the official launch to occur. The Galaxy S25 Edge isn’t merely a prototype or a one-time offering; recent reports suggest that it may even take the place of one of the core models in the Galaxy S series.

    Future Galaxy S Models

A report from Korea’s The Elec indicates that Samsung intends to introduce an Edge model in the upcoming Galaxy S26 series. Similar to the Galaxy S25 Edge, this new model will sport an ultra-slim design. More significantly, the anticipated Galaxy S26 Edge is likely to replace the Plus variant. If this goes ahead, it means there may not be a Galaxy S26 Plus released.

This change is reportedly due to the Plus model’s underwhelming sales performance in the Galaxy S lineup. To illustrate, Samsung has set a sales target of only 6.7 million units for the Galaxy S25+, in contrast to 13.6 million units for the Galaxy S25 and 17.4 million for the Galaxy S25 Ultra.

    Features and Competition

Should Samsung pursue this plan, they will need to deliver more than just a sleek design. The Galaxy S25 Edge comes with a smaller battery capacity, yet it shares the same screen size as the Galaxy S25+ (currently listed on Amazon for $865). It also charges slower, lacks wireless charging capabilities, and does not feature a telephoto camera. Moreover, its price of $1,099 makes it pricier than the Galaxy S25+, which starts at $999. If Samsung decides to eliminate the Galaxy S Plus model, it must ensure the replacement offers superior features and design.

The final decision is not yet made, as the source mentions that the success of the Galaxy S25 Edge will significantly influence this choice. Nevertheless, work on the Galaxy S26 series, dubbed ‘Project NPA’, has already started. Currently, the Plus model is not in the development phase, but this could alter depending on the performance of the Galaxy S25 Edge.

    Upcoming Launches

There’s also speculation that Samsung may launch four models in the Galaxy S series next year, mirroring this year’s lineup, as they are working on four OLED panels for the Galaxy S26 series. More information will likely emerge as time progresses.

  • Sony Xperia 1 VII: US Release of New Camera Flagship Unlikely

Sony Xperia 1 VII: US Release of New Camera Flagship Unlikely

    Key Takeaways

    1. The Sony Xperia 1 VII has been unveiled in Japan, Europe, and the UK, expected to outperform the Xperia 1 VI in performance and ultra-wide-angle photography.
    2. The phone’s price is anticipated to be similar to the Xperia 1 VI, which is currently priced at $1,039.99 on Amazon.
    3. The Xperia 1 VII received FCC approval, indicating a potential launch in the US market.
    4. There is a lack of information about the Xperia 1 VII in the US, with no updates from Sony’s US social media channels.
    5. Reports suggest that the Xperia 1 series may not be released in the US market this time, although no official confirmation has been provided.

The Sony Xperia 1 VII has made its debut, being unveiled today in various regions including Japan, Europe, and the UK. In a nutshell, this new model is expected to surpass the Xperia 1 VI (currently priced at $1,039.99 on Amazon) in terms of both performance and ultra-wide-angle photography. It appears that Sony has retained a lot of the hardware from last year’s top model.

    FCC Approval Hints

Last month, the Xperia 1 VII showed up on the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) website, suggesting that Sony might be planning to launch the phone in the US as well. An FCC certification suggests that the company is looking to get the go-ahead to sell the Xperia 1 VII in the American market. Sadly, this seems to have been a misleading signal.

Lack of Information in the US

When checking Sony’s social media channels tailored for the US audience, there’s no mention of the Xperia 1 VII. In fact, Sony Xperia US stopped sharing updates about their devices last year, just before the Xperia 1 VI was released. Additionally, The Verge has reported that they have not received any confirmation regarding a potential release of the Xperia 1 VII in the US. Android Authority has even claimed that the Xperia 1 series is “once again skipping the US.” Though they haven’t provided solid evidence for this statement, the existing data suggests that this is indeed the situation.

    Key Takeaways

    1. The Oppo Find X9 series will include at least four models: Find X9, Find X9 Plus, Find X9 Pro, and Find X9 Ultra.
    2. The Find X9 Pro is expected to feature a battery exceeding 7,000 mAh, positioning it against competitors like Vivo and Xiaomi.
    3. The Find X9 will have a 6.3-inch display, while the Find X9 Plus and Find X9 Pro will feature 6.59-inch and 6.78-inch displays, respectively.
    4. The Ultra model may have the same display size as the Pro variant.
    5. The Ultra smartphone will include a 200 MP periscope camera and a 50 MP 10x telephoto lens, while other models will likely have a triple camera system with a specialized periscope camera.

New details regarding the Oppo Find X9 series have surfaced ahead of its expected launch this fall. As a reminder, leaker Kartikey Singh shared last month that the Find X9 Pro will join the Vivo X300 Pro and Xiaomi 16 Pro as some of the initial flagship smartphones to exceed the impressive 7,000 mAh battery threshold.

    Oppo’s Diverse Lineup

According to Digital Chat Station, Oppo is working on at least four models in the Find X9 series, which will be eventually unveiled as the Find X9, Find X9 Plus, Find X9 Pro, and Find X9 Ultra. Based on previous launches, it seems likely that the Find X9 and Find X9 Pro will be the first to hit the market, positioning themselves not only against competitors from Vivo and Xiaomi but also taking on Samsung’s Galaxy S26 series.

    Display Features

In relation to specifications, Digital Chat Station suggests that the Find X9 will come equipped with a 6.3-inch display, potentially making it a rival to the iPhone 16 Pro (currently priced at $819.95 – refurbished on Amazon). On the other hand, the Find X9 Plus is expected to resemble the existing Find X8s Plus with its 6.59-inch screen, while the Find X9 Pro will feature a slightly larger 6.78-inch display. Interestingly, the upcoming Ultra model might have the same screen size as its Pro sibling.

    Camera Capabilities

Additionally, Digital Chat Station now asserts that Oppo will include a remarkable 200 MP periscope camera and a 50 MP 10x telephoto lens in its next Ultra smartphone. Earlier, the leaker had mentioned that one of these features might be omitted for the Find X9 series. However, the other models in the series are likely to be equipped with triple camera systems, which will include a specialized periscope camera.

Meizu 22 vs OnePlus 13T: Compact Design & New Telephoto Lens

    Key Takeaways

    1. Meizu is developing a smaller version of its 22 series flagship smartphones, measuring 71mm in width.
    2. The upcoming Meizu 22 is expected to feature a periscope zoom camera, surpassing competitors like the OnePlus 13 in camera technology.
    3. Camera quality of the Meizu 22 is anticipated to be on par with high-end models like the Oppo Find X8 Ultra.
    4. The Meizu 22 is expected to launch in July 2025, alongside a larger model called the 22 Pro.
    5. There is speculation about the 22 Pro’s camera design, which may include a distinctive metallic octagonal bezel.

Meizu is believed to be working on a smaller version of its upcoming 22 series flagship smartphones.

    Rumors Confirmed by a Leaker

The well-known leaker Digital Chat Station has supported these speculations with a recent statement indicating that the device will measure only 71 millimeters (mm) in width, which is narrower than the OnePlus 13s and 13T, which are 71.7mm wide.

    Camera Features and Comparisons

While the OnePlus devices offer 2x optical zoom, this is achieved with a traditional telephoto lens rather than the more advanced periscope lens featured in the OnePlus 13. This difference might be due to the smaller dimensions of the device. In contrast, the Meizu 22 is reportedly set to surpass its compact competitor by including a periscope zoom, even though it is likely to be the more petite smartphone.

The camera quality is expected to be comparable to that of other high-end smartphones, such as the Oppo Find X8 Ultra, which are considered ‘normal-sized.’

    Anticipated Launch Date

It’s anticipated that the Meizu 22 will be unveiled in July 2025, alongside a larger sibling called the 22 Pro. There is speculation that the Pro model may or may not feature the same camera design, which may include a metallic octagonal bezel for added flair.

    5. Pricing and Availability: The smartphone can be imported via Aliexpress for around $257, with potential availability on Amazon in the future.

Oukitel has launched a new smartphone called the WP55 Pro, which is driven by a MediaTek Dimensity 7025 chipset. While this processor isn’t the most powerful, it does enable 5G connectivity. Users can utilize two SIM cards at the same time, provided they don’t require the second slot for a microSD card. However, with a spacious internal storage of 512GB, most users likely won’t need to add more. The device comes equipped with 16GB of RAM and operates on the newest Android version.

    Design and Durability

The Oukitel WP55 Pro measures 0.6 inches in thickness, making it quite chunky for a smartphone. Nevertheless, this model is designed to be robust and rugged, featuring IP68 and IP69K certifications for water and dust resistance. Its considerable 11,000mAh battery contributes to its larger size and heft, but it supports fast charging at a rate of up to 33 watts.

    Display and Camera Features

Equipped with a 6.58-inch display, it boasts a resolution of 1080 x 2408 pixels along with a refresh rate of 120Hz. The main camera has an impressive 108 megapixels, although high resolution doesn’t always equate to superior photo quality. The camera array also includes an 8MP night vision camera, a 2MP macro camera, and a 32MP front-facing camera for selfies.

    Additional Features and Availability

The fingerprint sensor is positioned on the side rather than underneath the display, but the device does come with useful features like a digital compass. However, the WP55 Pro lacks some modern amenities, such as a powerful speaker or a bright flashlight. Currently, this smartphone can be imported through Aliexpress for prices starting at around $257, not including shipping and import costs. Many Oukitel models eventually find their way to Amazon, and the WP55 Pro may follow suit.

Galaxy S25 Edge: Snapdragon 8 Elite, Dual Cameras, Thin Design

    Key Takeaways

    1. Powerful Performance: The Galaxy S25 Edge features the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chip, 12 GB of RAM, and storage options of 256 GB or 512 GB.

    2. Camera Limitations: The device includes a 200 MP wide-angle lens and a 12 MP ultra-wide sensor but lacks a telephoto lens, which is surprising for its high price.

    3. Impressive Display: It has a 6.7-inch dynamic AMOLED display with a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz and includes an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor.

    4. Battery and Charging: The phone is powered by a 3,900 mAh battery with 25 Watts wired charging, wireless charging, and Wireless Powershare capabilities.

    5. High Price Point: The Galaxy S25 Edge is priced at EUR 1,249 ($1,382) for the base model, raising questions about its value compared to competing devices.

Samsung has just revealed its most intriguing smartphone lately, the Galaxy S25 Edge. Similar to other models in the S25 series, much information about this device was available before its official launch. This phone might be the most controversial one yet, mainly because of its price and its features.

    Hardware and Performance

Inside the Galaxy S25 Edge, you’ll find the same Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chip that powers the other S25 models. It’s paired with 12 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and offers storage options of 256 GB or 512 GB using UFS 4.0. There’s no 8 GB option here, which is a relief. For connectivity, the phone supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and 5G technology.

    Camera Features

Regarding photography, the Galaxy S25 Edge is equipped with a 200 MP wide-angle lens and a 12 MP ultra-wide sensor, plus a 12 MP camera for selfies. The absence of a telephoto lens in such an expensive device seems almost unacceptable, especially when cheaper phones offer this feature. It’s likely that the telephoto lens was removed to keep the device slim.

    Display and Battery Life

The Galaxy S25 Edge boasts a 6.7-inch dynamic AMOLED display that can refresh at rates of up to 120 Hz. It also includes Samsung’s Vision Booster technology and an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor located under the screen. The device runs on a 3,900 mAh battery, which charges at 25 Watts. You can also enjoy wireless charging and the Wireless Powershare feature.

Finally, let’s discuss what makes the Galaxy S25 Edge stand out. The phone weighs 163 grams and has dimensions of 75.8 mm x 158.4 mm x 5.85 mm. Though these specs are impressive, they don’t fully justify its price tag of EUR 1,249 ($1,382). If you’re interested in the 512 GB version, it will cost you EUR 1,369 ($1,515). Pre-orders are currently available on Samsung’s website, and those who order by May 29 will receive a free storage upgrade, allowing them to pay the price of the 256 GB model for the 512 GB option.

  • Sony Xperia 1 VII Launches Ahead of WH-1000XM6 with Upgraded Cameras

Sony Xperia 1 VII Launches Ahead of WH-1000XM6 with Upgraded Cameras

    Key Takeaways

    1. Performance Enhancements: The Xperia 1 VII features the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, promising a 40% boost in CPU, GPU, and NPU performance while maintaining a 5,000 mAh battery for up to two days of use.

    2. Improved Display and Audio: The new model includes a brighter display with a rear-mounted light sensor for better brightness and color adjustment, along with upgraded audio technology inspired by Sony’s Walkman series.

    3. Camera Upgrades: The Xperia 1 VII introduces a new 48 MP ultra-wide-angle camera with a larger sensor and macro capabilities, while the main camera features an Exmor T sensor capable of shooting at 24 mm or 48 mm equivalent focal lengths.

    4. Telephoto Camera Feature: The device includes an 85-170 mm telephoto camera, although it is uncertain if this is a new sensor or the same as in the Xperia 1 VI.

    5. Pricing and Availability: The Xperia 1 VII is priced at €1,499 in the Eurozone, with no current information on pricing for other regions like the UK or the US.

Sony has unveiled the Xperia 1 VII, just two days ahead of the launch of the WH-1000XM6. This new model is set to replace last year’s Xperia 1 VI, which is currently priced at $1,039.99 on Amazon. The Xperia 1 VII comes with several features that previous leaks didn’t mention.

    Performance Upgrades

To start, Sony has upgraded from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 to the Snapdragon 8 Elite. This change is supposed to offer a 40% improvement in CPU, GPU, and NPU performance. The 5,000 mAh battery from last year’s version makes a return, but thanks to the efficiency improvements from the Snapdragon 8 Elite, Sony is marketing the Xperia 1 VII as capable of lasting up to two days on a single charge.

    Enhanced Display and Audio

Sony also mentions that the display is brighter, featuring an extra rear-mounted light sensor that adjusts brightness and color temperature based on the surrounding light. However, no specific details were offered. Additionally, this year’s Xperia 1 incorporates audio technology from Sony’s Walkman series for the first time. While Sony claims this enhances sound quality for wired headphones, they haven’t provided any concrete evidence to back that up.

    Camera Features

On the other hand, the company has elaborated on changes to the camera hardware. The Xperia 1 now includes a new 48 MP ultra-wide-angle camera, which has a 1/1.56-inch optical format—about 2.1 times larger than the 1/2.5-inch sensor in the Xperia 1 VI. This new 16 mm ultra-wide lens can also function as a macro camera.

The main camera has also seen some upgrades. Although it remained the same between the Xperia 1 V and Xperia 1 VI, Sony claims the Exmor T mobile sensor can shoot natively at 24 mm or 48 mm equivalent focal lengths. It’s still unclear if this is a brand-new sensor. Lastly, the Xperia 1 VII is said to come with an 85-170 mm telephoto camera, though the brief mention of this sensor in the press release hints that it might be the same as the one in the Xperia 1 VI.

The Xperia 1 VII is now available in the Eurozone for €1,499, offered in three color choices. Unfortunately, Sony hasn’t yet shared pricing details for other regions, like the UK or the US. We will keep this article updated as soon as Sony reveals more information about the launch in other markets.

Galaxy Z Flip 7 Features Larger Cover Display Confirmed

    Key Takeaways

    1. Samsung is set to launch the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7, with rumors highlighting a slimmer design for the Fold 7 and a larger cover display for the Flip 7.

    2. Leaked One UI 8 firmware reveals that the Galaxy Z Flip 7 will feature a cover display that extends across the entire surface, with cutouts for dual cameras.

    3. The design of the Galaxy Z Flip 7 is reminiscent of Motorola’s Razr series, particularly the Razr+ 2024, which has a larger cover display compared to previous Z Flip models.

    4. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 is expected to be powered by either the Exynos 2500 SoC or the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, though it is unclear if both versions will be available.

    5. The performance of the Galaxy Z Flip 7 may be competitive with Motorola’s flagship Razr, which utilizes the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset.

Samsung is nearing the launch of its latest foldable devices, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and the Galaxy Z Flip 7. For some time now, there have been numerous rumors and leaks circulating, providing hints about what to anticipate from these two smartphones. Reports suggest that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will be notably slimmer compared to its predecessor, while the Galaxy Z Flip 7 is rumored to feature a larger cover display, similar to the design of Motorola’s Razr flagship model. Recently, the larger cover display was confirmed again through leaked One UI 8 firmware.

    Leaked Insights on Design

According to sources at Android Authority, they have obtained leaked One UI 8 firmware which has been analyzed to uncover design details for the Galaxy Z Flip 7. The firmware contains several images within its animation files that display the Galaxy Z Flip 5, Z Flip 6, and the Z Flip 7. The older models exhibit the established design style, but the image of the Z Flip 7 distinctly reveals a cover display that extends across the entire surface, with only cutouts for the dual cameras.

    Comparison with Motorola Razr

This design choice resembles Motorola’s strategy with the Razr series, particularly the Razr+ 2024 (Available on Amazon). While the Razr 2023 also featured a cover display with camera cutouts, it did not cover the whole surface area. In contrast, both the Razr+ 2024 and the Razr Ultra 2025 (Available on Amazon) boast 4-inch cover displays, whereas the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Z Flip 6 (Available on Amazon) come with smaller 3.4-inch displays.

    Performance Expectations

The forthcoming clamshell foldable from Samsung is anticipated to be equipped with the Exynos 2500 SoC, although it remains uncertain whether there will be two versions: one utilizing Samsung’s Exynos chipset and the other powered by a Snapdragon 8 Elite. Various rumors and leaks have hinted at both possibilities. For comparison, Motorola’s flagship Razr runs on the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset.
