Xiaomi has expanded its lineup of monitor-mounted lighting with the newly unveiled Mijia Monitor Light Bar 2. The device will be available through a Xiaomi YouPin crowdfunding campaign beginning July 15, carrying a launch price equivalent to roughly $39. As with other early-stage Xiaomi ecosystem products, the light bar is initially debuting in China, and the company has not yet disclosed any plans for a global release.
Asymmetric Illumination and Screen Comfort
The 50-centimeter light bar employs an asymmetrical optical design intended to channel brightness downward rather than toward the user, a method that significantly reduces distracting screen glare. According to Xiaomi, the lamp’s 108 individual LEDs effectively illuminate a desk area measuring 1.2 by 0.6 meters.
Adjustable Color Range and Accuracy
Users can tune the color temperature across a spectrum from a warm 2,700 Kelvin to a cooler 6,500 Kelvin. When set to a neutral 3,900 Kelvin, output reaches 500 lumens while maintaining a color rendering index of Ra96, which keeps color distortion to a minimum for tasks that demand visual accuracy. A dedicated remote control is included for adjustments, and the light bar is designed to work with curved monitors, clamping securely onto display edges ranging from 5 to 65 millimeters thick.
Evolving Desktop Lighting Choices
Xiaomi’s update arrives as desktop light bars continue gaining attention as a space-saving alternative to traditional desk lamps. Several brands now offer models that prioritize reduced eye strain through controlled beam angles and high color fidelity, with the Mijia Monitor Light Bar 2 positioned as a competitively priced option in this expanding category. While availability outside China has not been confirmed, the feature set suggests Xiaomi is targeting users who want configurable, glare-free task lighting without occupying valuable desk space.
