Qualcomm has confirmed that its annual Snapdragon Summit will take place in Maui, Hawaii, from September 22 through September 24, 2026. The event is expected to serve as the launchpad for a new generation of silicon powering flagship Android smartphones, and may also include announcements spanning smart glasses, Snapdragon-powered laptops, and other product categories.

Spotlight on the First Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Flagship

While Qualcomm’s keynote will set the stage for its next-generation mobile platform, attention is already turning to the first device expected to carry the new chip. According to industry insider Kartikey Singh, Xiaomi is preparing to introduce the Xiaomi 18 series in China in parallel with the Snapdragon Summit, possibly immediately following CEO Christiano Amon’s keynote on September 22. Although Xiaomi has not officially confirmed its launch date, the company has historically been the first manufacturer to ship a flagship featuring Qualcomm’s latest premium silicon.

Faster Global Rollout and a Camera Overhaul

In past cycles, international Xiaomi fans faced months-long delays before new models arrived outside China. That pattern may break in 2026, with rumors pointing to a much faster global release schedule—potentially even including a simultaneous global launch for the Xiaomi 18 Pro. On the imaging side, a major upgrade is expected across the entire Xiaomi 18 lineup: all models will reportedly feature Leica-branded camera systems built around dual 200-megapixel sensors.

A More Fragmented High-End Chip Portfolio

Leaks suggest Qualcomm is preparing greater differentiation within its premium tier. Alongside 2nm-based silicon—tentatively referred to as the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro—multiple additional variants are said to be in development for new Android flagships, some of which will remain on a 3nm process. This broader portfolio indicates that Qualcomm aims to address a wider range of price and performance targets at the high end, while its lead partner Xiaomi races to convert an early silicon advantage into market momentum.
