Ugreen has introduced a new over-ear headphone model that pushes aggressively into budget-friendly territory while claiming battery performance far exceeding many premium alternatives. The HiTune Max5s launched in China and carries a strong emphasis on longevity, noise cancellation, and software-driven audio features.
Audio hardware and noise cancellation
The HiTune Max5s weighs 238 grams and houses 40mm custom drivers built with a PET polymer diaphragm. Ugreen rates the sound pressure level at 113dB and says the headphones are engineered to perform particularly well at low listening volumes. Active noise cancellation is specified at up to 45dB, supported by an ambient noise analysis system that samples surroundings up to 375,000 times per second. Five onboard microphones combine with an AI algorithm to suppress background noise and lift voice clarity during calls.
Wireless codecs, app control, and assistant features
On the connectivity side, the headphones support spatial audio, the LDAC codec, Bluetooth 6.0, and Bluetooth Multipoint. Ugreen advertises dual Hi-Res gold certification. Through the companion app, users can adjust the equalizer, build custom EQ profiles, or generate a personalized audio profile with a single click. A built-in Ugreen AI assistant adds transcription of speech to text and live interpretation, including both transcription and audio output. The headphones also offer a conversation mode for quick interaction without removing the ear cups.
Battery life and availability
Power is supplied by an 800mAh battery that delivers up to 112 hours of playback with ANC switched off and up to 74 hours with ANC active. Based on 3.7 hours of daily use, Ugreen estimates the headphones can run for up to 30 days on a single charge. Charging is handled over USB-C.
The Ugreen HiTune Max5s is priced at CNY 169 (approximately $25/€22) and is currently available in China through JD.com. The feature set appears carefully calibrated for value-conscious listeners who prioritize stamina, codec flexibility, and day-to-day usability tools such as live translation, placing Ugreen’s audio ambitions well beyond its core charging accessories.
