Casio is preparing to expand its G-Steel family once again, introducing two new models that prioritize lightweight comfort and a distinctly athletic profile. The GST-B1000-1A and GST-B1000-2A have appeared in promotional materials from a Vietnamese retailer, signaling an anticipated launch in August. The key update is the replacement of the stainless steel bracelet found on earlier variants with a flexible silicone rubber strap.
Design revisions and material shift
The move to a silicone band dramatically reduces the watch’s overall mass. While the recently released bracelet-equipped GST-B1000D weighs 118 grams, the new references tip the scales at just 58 grams. Core case dimensions remain unchanged at 6.9 × 44.2 × 11.6 mm, preserving the robust G-Steel silhouette in a much lighter package.
Initial information from May suggested a pale blue dial for the reference GST-B1000-2A, but the latest images show a darker tone. The updated finish now closely resembles the metallic blue seen on the GST-B1000BD-2A, matching a visual direction Casio has recently favored. It is not yet clear whether the earlier render inaccurately represented the final production design or if a deliberate revision occurred late in development.
Core technology and expected pricing
Both models are built on Casio’s Module 5748, integrating Tough Solar charging capability and Bluetooth connectivity for smartphone link functions. The feature set includes a 30-minute stopwatch, a countdown timer, a daily alarm, and a Super Illuminator LED light for enhanced legibility in low-light conditions.
Official retail figures have not been confirmed, though market expectations position the GST-B1000-1A and GST-B1000-2A between $350 and $370. This pricing aligns with their role as premium analog-digital hybrids, offering metal construction paired with a sport-focused strap option within Casio’s broader connected timepiece lineup.
