Citizen has expanded its popular Tsuyosa family with two new references that refine the collection’s signature Datejust-inspired formula. Since its 2022 launch, the Tsuyosa line has built a reputation as one of the strongest automatic watches available below $500, later broadening into more premium Central Seconds models and a compact 37mm edition. The latest arrivals build directly on last year’s Tsuyosa 60, pairing a fluted bezel-style aesthetic with a five-link jubilee-style bracelet and the familiar magnifying lens over the date.
A refined dial and upgraded bracelet
Instead of the sunburst finish found on earlier Tsuyosa references, both new watches adopt a stamped guilloché-style radial texture. The pattern, first introduced on the Small Second variant and carried over to the 2024 Tsuyosa 60, catches light at multiple angles and gives the dial a notably more sophisticated character. Applied baton indices, a sharply executed handset, and the integrated case design complete the look. Citizen has also swapped the original three-link bracelet for a jubilee-style five-link construction, pairing polished center links with brushed outer links and securing the entire piece with a push-button butterfly clasp.
Two sizes with identical mechanical foundations
The larger 40mm model, listed as the Tsuyosa 60 (NK0022-50A), features a gold-tone case and bracelet matched with a white textured dial. It appeared earlier this month on Citizen Hong Kong’s website and has now officially reached the United States and Canada. Alongside it, Citizen is offering a new 37mm variant that preserves the full feature set in a smaller footprint, responding to growing interest in modestly proportioned automatic watches. Both versions run on the in-house Caliber 8310 automatic movement, which delivers hacking seconds, hand-winding capability, and a 60-hour power reserve. A sapphire crystal shields the dial, while 50 meters of water resistance keeps the watch suitable for daily wear.
Pricing and market positioning
The refined details come with a modest price adjustment. The new 40mm Tsuyosa 60 is priced at $675 in the United States and CA$795 in Canada, a $50 increase over the 2024 models. The 37mm edition carries identical pricing. Given the textured dial, upgraded bracelet, and dependable mechanical package, the slight premium positions the Tsuyosa 60 as a credible competitor in the increasingly crowded entry-level automatic segment, where design details and bracelet quality have become key differentiators.
