TCL has introduced its latest high-performance gaming display in China, the 27P2A Ultra, building on the foundation set by the Pro variant previously released in international markets. The new monitor is built around a dual-mode Mini LED panel that pushes refresh rate boundaries, with the standout specification being a blistering 1080Hz capability.
Resolution trade-offs for maximum speed
Reaching that 1080Hz figure comes with a specific constraint: the mode is only available when the display is set to 720p resolution. On a 27-inch screen, an HD image will sacrifice sharpness, but the monitor offers a more balanced alternative. In its QHD resolution mode, the panel still delivers a very high 550Hz refresh rate, placing it among the most fluid displays currently available for competitive gaming.
TCL employs what it calls Tmoc Super Dynamic Sharpness technology, designed to improve brightness, clarity, and fine detail in on-screen content. The company also highlights its MPRT-Plus dynamic effects, which aim to suppress motion blur and minimize ghosting artifacts during fast-moving scenes.
Brightness, comfort, and color performance
Brightness reaches a rated 800 nits, and the monitor carries VESA DisplayHDR 600 certification. TCL has integrated DC dimming alongside other eye-comfort features intended to reduce strain during extended use. On the color front, the Mini LED backlight helps the panel cover 95% of the DCI-P3 gamut and 99% of the sRGB color space, giving it enough accuracy to double as a reference-capable display for creative work.
The feature set is rounded out with adaptive sync support covering both FreeSync Premium and G-Sync, along with an adjustable stand and a slim overall profile. In China, the TCL 27P2A Ultra is priced at CNY 3,999, which converts to roughly $588. There is no confirmed timeline for an international launch at this stage, though the company has previously brought its Pro model to overseas buyers. TCL’s broader push into advanced Mini LED monitors is also reflected in recent launches such as the QD-Mini LED 27C2A, which targets 4K high-refresh gaming at a lower price point.
