Lenovo has quietly introduced a new LCD-equipped version of its Xiaoxin Air 14 ultraportable in China, offering a distinct efficiency advantage over the previously released OLED model. The most notable change is a sharp increase in rated battery endurance, climbing from 19 hours to 34 hours, despite both configurations relying on the same integrated 65Wh battery.
A Different Kind of Display
The new 14-inch panel maintains a resolution of 2560x1600 pixels, a 120Hz refresh rate, and a screen-to-body ratio of 91.2%. However, peak brightness is substantially lower, arriving at 400 nits compared to the OLED version’s 1,100 nits. The LCD variant also forgoes any HDR certification—even entry-level DisplayHDR 400 is absent. In exchange, users gain a practical anti-glare coating that reduces reflections and can improve usability under harsh lighting.
Core Hardware and Configuration
Power comes from Intel’s Core Ultra 200V series, with a choice between the Core Ultra 5 226V and the Core Ultra 7 256V. Lenovo is initially launching the former configuration, combining the processor with 16GB of soldered LPDDR5X memory and a 512GB SSD. While the RAM is fixed at the point of purchase, the internal storage is user-upgradeable. The chassis retains its slim-and-light character, measuring as thin as 12.9mm and weighing 1.14kg (2.51lbs).
Pricing and Availability
The Core Ultra 5 226V model is currently listed in China at CNY 6,299 (approximately $929). International availability has not yet been confirmed, though the machine is expected to appear in overseas markets under the IdeaPad Slim family.
