A long-awaited sequel to one of HMD’s most recognizable devices appears to be coming into focus. Nearly two years after the original Skyline launched, fresh details have emerged about its successor, suggesting a more capable device than earlier rumors indicated.

Performance and Display Get an Upgrade

According to information shared by leaker Smashx_60, the HMD Skyline 2 will retain a 144Hz OLED panel. Under the hood, however, the chipset has reportedly been upgraded. A previous leak from May 2025 pointed to the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3, but the newest intelligence indicates the phone will instead ship with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 processor. This will be paired with either 8GB or 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage, expandable via microSD cards of up to 1TB.

Camera System Revised with a 108MP Sensor

The camera array also sees a notable revision from earlier reports. The primary rear camera is now said to be a 108MP unit, flanked not by a 13MP ultrawide and a 50MP telephoto lens, but by two 50MP secondary sensors. On the front, a third 50MP camera with autofocus and electronic image stabilization is expected. Additional features cited in the leak include 40W wired fast charging, Qi2 wireless charging compatibility, stereo speakers, a dedicated camera capture button, a USB 3.2 Type-C port, and second-generation repairability.

Design and Launch Timeline Remain Open Questions

Despite an earlier rumor suggesting a visual refresh, the leak now claims the Skyline 2 will carry over the same design language as the current model. Color options are said to include Black, Yellow, and Cyan. No announcement date has surfaced, though the device is still anticipated to debut before the end of this year. The status of previously referenced variants—the Skyline 2 GT and Skyline 2 Business Edition—remains unclear, with no word yet on whether those projects are moving forward or have been shelved.
