Earlier speculation regarding Garmin’s next-generation outdoor watches is now giving way to more detailed forecasts, with both the Fenix 9 series and the Enduro 4 expected to debut simultaneously in 2026. This would mark a shift from past staggered introductions and signals a unified platform refresh across two of the company’s premier multisport lines.
A strategic split in display technology
The most striking detail emerging from the latest leak concerns screen technology. According to the report, the Enduro 4 is likely to be the sole model equipped with a memory-in-pixel (MiP) display paired with integrated solar glass, a combination purpose-built for extreme battery endurance. In contrast, the Fenix 9 family is tipped to move entirely to AMOLED panels. That transition continues a broader strategy across the portfolio, trading the ultra-low power draw of MiP for richer contrast and color vibrancy. AMOLED does carry a penalty in direct sunlight, where brightness must spike considerably—and power consumption rises along with it.
Fenix 9 and Fenix 9 Pro launch in lockstep
Another departure from recent precedent involves the launch cadence of the Fenix 9 Pro. Unlike the Fenix 8 Pro, which arrived months after the base Fenix 8 debuted at $992, both the standard Fenix 9 and the Fenix 9 Pro are now expected to reach the market at the same time. The Pro designation typically adds an integrated LTE modem and inReach satellite communication capabilities. Additionally, the leak points to a new, more compact 43-millimeter Fenix 9 Pro variant, broadening options beyond the 47-millimeter and 51-millimeter sizes offered in the current Pro generation.
As with all pre-release information, this roadmap remains unofficial. Garmin has not confirmed any specifications, launch windows, or feature sets for the Fenix 9, Fenix 9 Pro, or Enduro 4, and the details should be viewed with appropriate caution.
