Apple’s recent iPad Pro advertisement, which showcased close-up shots of creative tools being crushed, faced backlash for its overt metaphor. Samsung quickly took advantage of this situation with a satirical ad of its own.
Xiaomi Joins the Trend
Now, Xiaomi has entered the scene, but with a different objective. The company produced a similar advertisement to hint at an upcoming phone launch in India.
On Tuesday, Xiaomi posted a video on X (formerly known as Twitter) that mirrors Apple’s ad in terms of setup. However, instead of objects being crushed, the crushing surface halts halfway through, concluding the video with the text “Cinematic Vision,” where the letters “Ci” and “Vi” are highlighted in red.
These letters spell out “Civi,” referencing Xiaomi’s youth-focused smartphone line. Until now, Xiaomi’s Civi phones have been exclusive to China, with the latest model being the Xiaomi Civi 4 Pro.
Rumored Specifications
Although not officially confirmed, speculation suggests that the Xiaomi 14 Civi will be the first Civi phone to launch in India, possibly being a rebranded version of the Civi 4 Pro. If this holds true, the phone is expected to feature a 6.55-inch 1.5K (2750 x 1236 pixels) AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate.
The device is likely to be powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chip, supporting LPDRR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. For the cameras, it might include a 50MP main lens, a 50MP telephoto lens, and a 12MP ultrawide lens on the rear. Additionally, a 32MP sensor is anticipated on the front for selfies.
The phone could also come with a 4700mAh battery that supports 67W charging and will run on Android 14-based HyperOS right out of the box.
