Until now, it was thought that Xiaomi wouldn’t introduce a new Ultra model in its flagship smartphone series until early next year. But, there's a possibility that the Xiaomi 14 Ultra (currently priced at $1,099 on Amazon) might already be in advanced development stages. This is suggested by a recent leak about Xiaomi's upcoming 'Ultra' smartphone, if the information is indeed accurate.
Camera Speculations
For a while now, rumors have been circulating about the camera sensors that the Xiaomi 15 Ultra will use. According to reports, the company has chosen the Sony LYT-900 as the main sensor for the Xiaomi 15 Ultra. This sensor offers a 50 MP native resolution and features a 1-inch optical format with a 23 mm equivalent focal length. Interestingly, it appears that Xiaomi has positioned this camera off to the left, which is a change from the setup seen in this year’s model.
Design Elements
This new arrangement gives the Xiaomi 15 Ultra a somewhat unbalanced appearance internally. Above the main sensor, there should be a Samsung ISOCELL HP9, which provides a 100 mm equivalent focal length along with a 1/1.4-inch optical format. Additionally, a secondary IMX858 telephoto camera is located beneath it, along with an ultra-wide-angle camera supported by an ISOCELL JN5. A prominent wireless charging coil and a sturdy mid-frame are also visible in the design.
Future Launch Plans
The image suggesting these features indicates that Xiaomi will keep its circular camera design for another generation. However, this housing might look different from the one in the Xiaomi 14 Ultra due to the new sensor placements. Presently, it seems Xiaomi might wait until Mobile World Congress 2025 (MWC 2025) to launch the Xiaomi 15 Ultra globally. Nevertheless, there’s a strong possibility that it could be unveiled earlier in China, similar to what has happened with other recent flagship devices from Xiaomi.
